if you like mixing fast, get something with + 10, like vestax. ^_^

Your mixes are allways gona go outa time sooner or later, its inevitable! Try pushin the record if its 2slow or move the pich control up until you hear the record cach up the return the pich to where it was! EASY

You gona need pritty acute hearing to get the beats exact and that aint gona happen in a year!

Ive been teaching my mate to mix recently, cant get him off the dex now tho but the practice is realy payin off.

oh s*it man, what was i saying?

work out the bpm by counting them. I count the beats for 15 seconds and the mupliply by 4 do this for both records playing!

Es , SPEED , TRIPS AND BLOW HERE WE ****ING GO!

a bit of easy help for beginners

when the beat kicks in count the beats i.e. 1 2 3 4

then keep doing this repeatedly and tap your foot to that beat.

cue up the next track and listen to the first one doing the 1234 thingy release the cued up tune on 1 and try to keep them in time pushing the vinyl and moving the pitch or gently sliding the platter sider and lowering the pitch...

its possible to cue up in about 10-15 seconds for a beat match with hardcore...

I find hardcore and techno the most easy to mix out of house dnb etc etc...

it will come together with practice..

another thing when you think you can't hear whats going on with the contrast in the beats (it may be that they are in time) thats why.. a friend of mine had this problem.

always record and playback to yourself the mixes... listen to it at least twice.

Poo! ,I've only been Djing since September and i can mix fine....Just working on EQ mixing atm...

Its not hard to beat match when you think of it...Just take as long as you need(Start when the other record has just finished being mixed in)..Just take as long as you need :) ..Get it matched and if it slows or goes faster then just push or put pressure on the record(The middle part) to get it back again...

i've been mixing for about 3 weeks now and im starting to be able to beat match ok have spent hours each day at it though!

i dont like the idea of learning using a digital counter or counting the beats in 15 seconds etc. i think if you put the effort in at the start and learn the ol' skool way then you'll end up a better DJ because of it ...... then you can use the other quick methods to make more time for other trickery like scratching!

I dont mean fine, i mean EXACT. I consider my mixing to be pritty reasonible and people who dont mix would have a hard job spotting my mistakes but when m8's who have been mixing for years hear my mixes they can allways tell me how to get better.

If you have the pitch exactly spot-on you should be able to thro a tune in at the start of a track and without ANY adjustment atall, it should stay in beat until both tracks end.

The longer you dj the less pitch adjustment your mixes need leaving more time for doing clever things with the beat your mixin in or even time for a bit of scrachin.

I like to play as fast as i can on my +/- 10 dex and i find it easier to beatmatch at slower speeds..haha like + 2ish. But really hardcore is so fun to mix, (ive never mixed anything else). Its not that hard, my biggest problme is beatmatching, thats just one of those things that goes away with time ^_^ hehe

oh and someone said somethign about not being able to hear the contrast of the beats, i hd that problem once, then i was like DUH i cant hear it, they are matched =P good times!

u shudnt need to even touch the record if its matched, i've been spinninbout a year and 4months now, cud beat match easily within 3 months, and about the 9month mark i was able to throw in the tune and hardly need to touch the spindle or record. But sayin its not possible to be perfect every single time, but ur better usin the pitch slider if the record is goin out of sync instead of touchin it as u wont get that horrible pitch change therefore makin it less noticable

Most people say its exactly the opposite, that stuff like house is far far harder to mix than Hardcore because of the amount of space between beats. I always found it fairly easy, simple structure etc. Not including Old Skool or breakbeat tho ;)

you know i gotta agree. I can mix hardcore so easily at up to max pitch on my decks. But i tried my mates trance/house and couldnt get it. the speed makes it easier i reckon

I found it easy to use my hands on the vinyl when i 1st started mixin cuz i could hear what was happenin but when i played my mixes back you could hear the record speeed up so i now use a combination of the pich control and my hands. It all just depends on how the mix is goin i suppose.

want to speed those technics up????

take the platter off

unscrew the plastic grill cover under

look for a round blue thing with a + in it

turn it clockwise to speed them up or anti clockwise to slow them down

bear in mind this will not be +8 or -8 now and if you have the technics with the 0% quartz lock (green light comes on) if you wanna mix and need the pitch just off the green mark it jumps from 0% to 2% (for arguments sake) when you bring the pitch off the lock.

I hope that makes sense... now reading it back to myself it is clear as mud.
