no the empty cameras are just there for show; scare tactics mate. make us think we'll get flashed to make us slow down; it works so why would they take them down.

secondly though, u can' tjust pin this on people's stupidity; if a pissed fella hit some little kid, would the parents just say; oh he was just being stupid? no, of course not, in fact (and more importantly) whenever anything like this happens, they push for highest charges and for more speed bumps and such and such. its not just down to the driver to be careful, coz some people will get it wrong, and since we don't know who it will be where it will be or when it will be, you will have to consider evberything as a danger and take care whenever u come up against anything that could be some form of a threat to your well being.

If pac-man really had an effect on us, we'd all be runnin' round in dark rooms, listening to repetitive music and munching pills!!!

i think they should get rid of them cos people only slow down for the camara and then they speed up again. they should use more off them ones what start flashing 40 if your speeding they work a lot better

Me my self think they are a waste of time, for a start off they dont track down no joyriders etc whoever said that.

I know where all the cameras are in my area and do just slow down for them then accelerate afterwards so whats the point?

Sorry to hear bout your dad rhi rhi but also sorry to say speed cameras wouldnt have changed what happened.

At the end of the day ive got a performance car to use it, not just to look cool round town. anybody says otherwise can f**k off

Although if you went through a speed camera at 80 mph in 50 what you expect dummy. dont complain.

Accidents are caused by bad driving not really speeding.

I think the police have gone over the top with speed cameras cos its just generating more money for the police at the end of the day. I hate them!!

my dad is a qualified driving instructor; he was when he was in the TA teachin people to drive the tanks and shit.

anyway, something he has always said to me is a) no matter how careful you are, accidents can always still happen; good driver or bad. and b) the majority of accidents happen when people try to drive beyond their capabilities.

the way my dad drives sometimes (i.e. to get me to college is a good 1 and a 1/2 hours, he's got me their in 25 minutes when i needed to be; sounds crazy but this is true!) i believe what he says about driving within ur capabilities. If u are then u will be confident and not panic so can avoid accidents.

thats the problem with boy racers and shit; their cars are more than they can handle, so if they want to they can push it to a level that is too much for them to control. and low and behold, they crash.

i would NEVER say that speeding is a good thing, but i also can't say that i have done anything to stop the person driving from speeding either. i can also say that when i am driving (too expensive atm) i won't be speeding for a bit at least til i get some skill then, yeah i more than likely will.

Dinner break or no dinner break, go through a camera at 80 in 50 you 3 points and fine.unfortunatly cameras dont reason why you were speeding.

I personally dont think your right to an extent about driving out of capabilitys but a lot of the cars these boy racers have are designed for weekly trips down the shops and carting kids about, they put alloy wheels and shit on them to make them handle worse than standard but hey there mates down maccys think they are cool coz they got 18's on 1.1 saxo then give genuine performance car driver a bad name coz they drive like dicks

18s on a saxo 1.1 will make it handle better in the dry but in the rain it will just slide all ove the place if you put bigger wheels on a big car then it will make the handling better than it was.

chill out like a mouse
coz dj excy's in the house!!

Speed Cameras? Depends on the situation.
Built up areas, urban areas, school areas, accident blackspots, known street racing areas, yeah Camera them up to hell, the slower round them the better, but on motorways and dual carriageways?? Well yeah that too but i dont think the gap between limit and getting flashed should be so small, on a 70 motorway/dual carriage way, the cameras should be on 90 (just to stop the idiots in their BMWs and Mercs doing 120 in heavy traffic), you can be cruising with the flow of traffic at 85 at times, yes speeding is illegal but relative to drink driving (which has increased recently) and reckless driving I dont think its anywhere near as bad. I recently read that if its a manned camera if they feel you are going with the flow of traffic they wont get you (as long as it is within reason;) but the static yellow things dont take situation into account, I have seen accidents coz some idiot was doing about 55 in a 50, slammed his brakes on at a speed camera and got rear ended by the car behind. I sit on the fence were cameras are concerned, good and bad points, my main point tho is that I just think a fine is enough, dont put points on thats a bit unfair I think.
