I agree with you, man. It's a social place where all of our common interest is the music. But I don't like how lately it's turned into this with people ending up fighting. I love talking about other stuff here (games, computers, gear, etc.) but this kind of topic as well as religion will end in tons of angry people.

Yeah, personally I don't thing this topic should have been started up. Speakin about either Politics or Religion causes arguments between members and isn't needed around here. We all have our own beliefs and our own agreements and disagreements on Politics. Arguing about these things isn't going to change what someone thinks.

This topic needs to be locked up...

Well of course you would think that and wouldn't want it to be locked up because you are the one who created it. LoL

Do not lock it. Politics are a major part of our life, they need to be discussed. Also this topic has not violated any rules.

Bush, I don't like, but its not worth screaming about, I'm just gonna register and vote and get rid of him if I can. I love talking politics but its getting more and more difficult. It seems that anytime someone starts a conversation, someone from the extreme left or right immediately enters and derails any kind of productive thought.

The fact that discussing things rarely changes someone's views now kind of scares me. Extreme arguments get thrown back and forth all the time and all it tends to do is make the sides hate each other even more with little room for compromise.

I work with a girl who is very conservative and I'm from the liberal side. We're good friends and one day we were talking about her brother. Her brother is in the marines and truthfully he hates it. Thats not the main point. She also told me that when he was home on leave for a few weeks, he would sometimes be screaming in his sleep, he wasn't the person he was before the war. That's not the main point either. Everyone will agree that war is atrocious and can seriously scar people.

What I thought was disturbing, was the fact that when someone said if you want him to come home faster, vote for Kerry, she said "I don't know if I would go that far." She said it rather resigned fashion, not in a joking way or confrontational at all. Her beliefs were just so strong that even though she could see the negative impact on the war, and knew that Bush has little or no exit strategy, she was not willing to give a liberal point of view a chance to get her brother home.

Political beliefs are becoming just that, beliefs. Not open to interpretation, only to maintaining and promoting. Think about how many people go to church every week because they believe in God or something along those lines. They don't need proof, they just have faith in the system. People seem to shift these religious feelings to their political affiliation now, and that just scares me.
I like what the Chris Rock character said in Dogma, ideas are good, beliefs can start a whole bunch of problems. Please don't go off on religion for this post, religions have done some amazing things for this world. I'm just scared of blind faith in people based on political affiliation. There are good people on both sides of the spectrum, hopefully we'll be able to work together soon.

Hopefully that made sense and I hope you don't feel like you wasted your day reading it. Its good to stay as informed as possible, but also realize that bashing people over the head is not the way to make them align their ideas with yours.

jeremy...you didn't waste my time by reading what you said.

Yea, granted this place is for music i agree with you comet (BTW comet i downloaded one of your sets AND YOU ****ING BLEW IT OFF DUDE>>YOU KIK A$$) ok anywayz..lmao but its kind of kool to have topics like this. I posted alot on this i honestly thought my posts were gonna get me in some trouble with other people not unless noone read my posts!..lol o well.
Don't get me wrong i love a place where we can be free and everything but that shouldn't be offered by goverment or structure of law it should be insured by us being HUMAN BEINGS..HUMAN BEINGS! **** if your some race or religion that doesn't make you human. we as human beings should come one like faithless's song!lol come one and come together! Believe in what you want to believe thats a right asa human being but don't completely blind your eyes to other peoples ways or beliefs its one thing to have a belief system but its another thing for it to completely blind you from other people and other peoples ways. I honestly have a hard time believing in "god" or any other religion and people think thats a problem but i have friends who are holy people and thats fine with me i still love them because they are human just as me. I DO NOT agree or believe in politics or government in general thats just me. Whatever you believe in shouldn't define you as a person you define yourself as a person not a religious belief or government belief..you AS A HUMAN BEING DEFINE YOURSELF. i think im just basically rambling. o well but it all ties in!

I agree. I thought we had a fair enough discussion going. Why stop an intelligent discussion simply because it's a difficult, controversial topic? If we consistently back off from topics that cause passionate, strong emotions we're never going to get anywhere are we?

Hardcore music and culture is becoming increasingly respected and recognised. We are thankfully going beyond the "drug-****ed" label that has tainted hardcore in the past, and the people who are involved and fans of the style are very diverse in their views, background and interests. If some of us want to discuss politics, why not? the people on this board are many whom i know of, and believe it or not i do care what they have to say.

This is a discussion forum, for people to discuss. Discussion involves agreement and disagreement, believe it or not.
