I'm looking forward to going to back to university in september, working a 35-40 hour week at the moment plus some freelance work "on the side" which is taking ages cos I can never be arsed to do anything in the evenings! :(

how much experience do you have mate? coz if u have a fair amount of experience, why don't you go to some real plush gaff for work where people are EXPECTED to behave properly coz i can imagine what u mean by the babysitting adults thing. their having all the fun while u clean up after them.

or why not just try a quieter bar? like an old man's pub or something?

Always remember; you are unique, just like everyone else

sucks to hear that work is makin ya down stony. I have nothing to complain about workwise...but traffic definetly takes the most energy outta me. having a clutch in traffic in your car for over an hour just sucks and with summer here...its ten times worse.
Like you said in your first post, its only til you go back to school. Youll be alright. :-)

only been working full time bartending for about 5 months. of course not only do i bartend, but i serve food and run the lotto, do carry out for booze, and take care of their illegal slot machines that "don't pay off". i do way too much shat for 35$ a shift.

its not a matter of clean up, its that the people are just inconsiderate and cheap

if your bill is 20$ you should tip 2$ minimum.

i would love to work at a classier joint where i could just make drinks for people and they dont keep going "i cant taste the alcohol!!" cause their all fusking alcoholics. you can't really taste alcohol in beer, but its there! just like mixing records and preparing food, mixing drinks is an art that ghetto trash doesnt appriciate.

heres a sceen from last night. me and the cook are the only 2 people in the bar so i grab some change and get ready to set us a game of pool. well the phone rings so i give him the change and tell him to rack em after he gets done sweeping. so he sets it on the table, just then 2 people walk in and the guy snatches the .75 cents. the cook says "hey man, thats his" the guy goes "naw, you aint gonna shoot, sam you gonna shoot? naw, its complements of the house right?"

so i said "hell no, thats my money" he said "aww com'on man its .75 cents"

this comming from a prick who never pays for his own drinks and never tips. who is in there 7 days a week and constantly goes "sam, hook me up man, let me get a shot of that on you"

yeah, right.

christ even if the service sucks I still usually tip $2 if the meal is $20.

only thing is if you go to a classier place they may not let you have your piercings in.

i figured you'd be picking up mad women by now, how wrong the movie cocktail is =P
