A lot of Hip-Hop is bad, especially these days, but a lot of it is good. I've listened to hip-hop a lot and heard a lot of amazing stuff. Favourite artists are:

DITC (Big L, Lord Finesse, Show and AG, Diamond D etc)
Gangstarr
Brand Nubian
Ultramagnetic MCs
KRSOne/Boggie Down Productions
Wu Tang Clan
Biggie Smalls
Tribe called Quest

All these artists must be heard because their music is top quality

RIP ODB

You've got no idea man - theres some hip-hop artists out there that have pure talent. You need to broaden your horizons. Its not all bling bling like what you see on MTV.

...and another thing about hip-hop - the DJs piss all over any other DJs (even hardcore I'm afraid to say) I don't mean track selection or anything (Sy is still my fav DJ over all) but their skills...

The oldest mix tape I've got is by Kid Kapri - the whole thing is just breaks off old funk records looped back to back - no tricks, just pure DJing at its best. Constant scrathin, loopin and changing. I've never heard anything like it. I've never heard a DJ as good as that.

Don't get me wrong - hardcore is my fav music style by far - but hip-hop allows DJs to do so much, and I've heard some amazing things done by hip-hop DJs on the turntables.

Definitely true the talent of some of these dj's is incredible, i've watched some tutorials from hip hop dj's and i'd recommend it to everyone. Some people here need to broaden their horizons and look beyond the surface of different genres and get to the good stuff. Half of the people who are moaning here about hip hop being shit are the same people that wonder why people dont give hardcore a chance. The same way you've heard commercial shit like nelly and p diddy and decided hip hops shit, others may have heard some stupidly cheesy happy hardcore like children of the night and decided it's all shit. Don't get much time to keep up with hip hop myself but love my old biggie smalls cds

Venga familia!!!

Yeah, total agree with this - in general as well as just with hip-hop. There's a lot of amazing artists out there that deserve to be listened to and not judged by the genre they're into. Hip-hop especially, because there is a lot of bad hip-hop around.

Id say the new stuff is getting more and more annoying. The underground artists are the ones that i like. Not the ones that have videos on MTV of hot ass cars with 20' chrome and necklaces that look like something Mr. T would wear.

*While im at it. Does anyone else think that snoops new song "Drop it like its hot" is thee most retarded song ever? its like hes not even tryin anymore. He used his "izzle" gibberish to complete a whole bar of rhymes just to add the "izzle" at the end. how lizzame :-(

** Im the one w/ the yellow face 8-) **

the good ones are the undergound artists, some of the mc battles are crazy.... its more bout the talent(if you can't cut it the other mc will tear you up) than the huge studio's or million dollar contract signings with major labels...

people should deffinetly check out andre nicotina he's an awesome lyricist
