i agree bodeba well as far as breeze and styles i mean like for them to make a video out of a "heartbeats" which in my onion is not a good song and make it so like a cheap rap video and porn is horrible and the worst thing is that the heartbeats made it big because it was a a TRANCE SONG! thats horrible!
um as far as making hardcore going mainstream uhh well i mean no it won't go that far and the reason it has gone this far with hixxy and breeze and styles and kevin energy and such is b/c they are playing not just hardcore but trance and nrg crap. i mean all the big djs that are huge aren't making happy hardcore anymore there making hardcore i thinking that a sellout with initself don't get me wrong there are awesome "hardcore" tracks out there but like i said before there has to be a balance of "hardcore" and "happy hardcore"

aphex twin = one person
wouldn't categorize him as hardcore since most of his work is more ambient, but yeah he has some really interesting productions

i guess the beauty of being in america is that hardcore is still underground. it's too big of a place for it to be massive everywhere. you can still go to a hardcore party (props to annika) and there would only be like 300-400 people there. yeah, it's small, but at least we don't have to worry about it going over the top at the moment.

Kev Energy playes trancey stuff because he happens to be highly respected in hard house too, and will warm up a set with hard house stuff and build up to hardcore with great effect regularly. But he has a fair bit a breakbeat and technoish styles up his sleeves don't forget. Hardcore was originally a great genre as it combined all elements.
I do understand what you mean about Hixxy, and Breeze and Styles though ,they only ever seem to play euphoric and (new style easily accessible by daft little chav kiddies type) happy stuff, and I feel that a good set needs a bit of everything. And Hixxy's magna NYE '03 pissed me off real bad, ****ing off the mixing for playing remixes of clubland tracks from the beginning, rather than bringing it in through a mix. Playing for the crowd is all well and good, but if you are a hardcore dj maybe it should be a hardcore crowd that is played for, not stupid little chav nobs.
An happy upwards journey gets boring and monotous, whereas as a rollercoaster of dark and happy is more exciting, theres music for your hands, your feet and also music with rather low frequencies that just hit you in the chest quite hard. It's good to feel music rather than simply hear it.
But you have to respect DJ Sy and DJ unknown for keeping the bouncy sound out there, and also Scott Brown for his more modern trancey yet sometimes slightly dark harder approach to bouncy things.

I don't think this sort of thing really matters, I mean why should anyone care if hardcore will go mainstream. Then it'll be big! And if there are wannabes, forget em.... you like it and thats what counts.
Trancecore is great.. maybe not as good as breakbeat or freeform but still great.
Its not shitty stuff.

well i mean sorry i can't sit and say i know what styles any hardcore dj starts off with. thats fine you seen these dj in fact thats ****ing awesome*. i have never seena hardcore dj ever! so i dounnno i guess im a newbie in that term. but kevin energy and breeze and styles and hixxy wow i mean there tracks wel most of breeze and style don't even exceed over 170 its all cookie cutter music alot of its fabricated most of these djs are producing tracks one after another just to get a track out there*. yeah ok thats fine kevin energy is respected in a nother henre and thats great but his hard house rooots or whatever influence to much on hardcore. from what i hear its not all that hardcore i really hate bickering over djs well becauese obviously they are human beings lol and i mean i don't know them personally*. i mean people name some djs who have bouncy tracks but i mean c'mon you can't sit there and say or write that happy hardcore should live on and and there should be no hardcore well b/c i also understand that there has to be a evolution in music b/c than it will get boring just to have "happy hardcore" but i mean just to overshadow happy hardcore with hardcore is plain crap. respect what came before it i mean it seems like people have lost the actual happy hardcore feelin and such. happy hardcore was for the inyour face over the top music....dude my name isn't just b/c i think its "kool" but to it describes a feeling of HAPPY HARDCORE-ECSTATIC MANIC EROCDRAH* got it? anywayz im done ranting this is not for a negative response i hope someone understands remotely where im coming from.

quote: Agreed. This argument will go on and on (and on and on and on......) and will never really be resolved, lets just get on with it. Theres nothing anyone can do, unless the people who currently earn a living by making, releasing, promoting and DJing hardcore sit up and listen and then promptly go and quit hardcore and get a job in Burger King.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see hardcore full of teeny boppers and grumpy gits trying to be cool either, but lets face facts. Hardcore is cool, people who want to be cool will always head towards what is cool. I suppose we could always make hardcore a secret society and have a special handshake, and we could keep the volume down all the time so no "outsiders" can hear what we're listening to. Oh and better dim those lasers down too in case we draw undue attention to ourselves. Mind you, if all the people trying to put bread on their table through hardcore stop doing so and get a "real job" then tehre won't be any scene anyway...... go figure
thats a lot of trouble.
couldnt we just lock the door?

My friend I am behind that 100% If people like it just enjoy it :-) I love old skool, breakbeat!!! The music has evolved just as the tecnology behind it!!!
As for it being more comercial HOW can that be a bad thing??? more money, more raves better facilities better equipment/sound systems, As for the comercial release of heartbeats, i love the original and the video!!!!! I love it !!!! As a red blooded man lots of girlies in tiny outfits...... mmmm and i'm pretty sure if people admit it or not most of us boys will agree
