Am looking for a Mark Oh track Tears Don't Lie. Now I believe mostly in not copying tracks from sites.

But I would go into HMV, Virgin, and what ever other place where they don't know who Mark Oh is.

But there is this one little shop place who does Hardcore and the owner has it at home (1 cd original) and will only sell it for 30 quid or more. I can't get it any other place. Except I did find it on a site I could download it from for free. Now this is a track I really want.

Should I buy it for an insane price? Only 1 track I want.

Or get it for free?

But in that situation who is more of a Pirate? Me or the owner?

Think about it. What would you do given the choice.

I would also like to point out that some old tracks of happy hardcore are hard to come by on cd these days. Especially some like Mark Oh or Dune Live....(funny enough I do have Dune Live cd) but the point is though is that there is probably not many cds of those artists around these days. I just feel like if you have tried everything else, you can then if an option presents itself and get it for a low price or free from a site, then I feel its okay. I wouldn't feel good about it but at least I know I spent time and effort looking for an oldie that no plonker at HMV has heard of in the legal way, before I do download it.

Well, some people haven't got a conscience and probably would have downloaded it for nowt and not told anybody here about it.

If the tune means that much to you, and it's that hard to get hold of, then I'm sure it's worth the £30.

Don't download it - yes it's free and tempting but it's so much more satisfying buying an original than downloading a copy. Why not hang on for a bit longer and keep shopping around? It might be a lot cheaper importing it from Germany directly!

OK, theres this stereo I really want yeah, its got like a 200Gigawatt amp, 20 CDs has a 5TB Hard drive that plays mp3s and its just fooking amazin' yeah. Thing is, I've been everywhere looking for it, and the only place I can find it for sale is in this shop called Currys yeah, and they want like 6 squillion pound for it yeah, which is just outrageous!!

However, I know a bloke lives round the corner yeah who has one he claims fell of f the back of a lorry yeah, and he'll let me have it for free.... I know its nicked, and some poor sod probably paid 6 squillion quid in currys for it, but its free yeah! And I'm sure that by taking the stereo off him it won't encourage him to steal more stereos and give them away for free taking business away from currys and panasony.

So like, what should I do?

*edit* not aimed at you in particular kinetical

Shop around abit more is the best advice, then but it for 30 if you have to....

Also while I think you have a valid point about not buying stolen gear underloop, in no way is that the same as DL a track, there just at the opposite end of the spectrum and it's unfair to use such an example,

Im totally against DL tunes when you can be helping the scene by parting with the cash, i just think your argument is a moot point

p.s. real pirates, with peglegs and stuff...they rock

well, i think i could save you some cash..

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2249&item=4057186008&rd=1&ssPageName=WD1V

i have this cd, and i just found it on ebay for just three quid....

Dance Zone Level 5 - check out cd 1, track 20..

hehe, hope that somewhat helps

theres also the cd single on ebay and some vinyl
http://search.ebay.co.uk/mark-oh-tears_W0QQsojsZ1QQfromZR40

of course, now you have to wonder...all the NEW copys of these albums and singles have been bought....and its not being made any more..so if you cant buy it in shops, the only way to get it, is in second hand stores and ebay..

neither of which give any money to the artist or boost sales for anyone but the individual who is selling it

take me for instance, not too long ago, i won an auction on ebay for 35 hardcore compilations..for just £35 ($65), some of which you can still buy in stores.. none of that money i payed for those cds went to the artists..

of course, the cds that arent in shops anymore (about 25 of the ones in the auction) wouldnt have gotten money to the artists anyway but the new ones would have if i had bought them on amazon for $35 a piece..plus shipping from the UK to USA

im not FOR downloading music, i just thought i might point that out as something to think about :P

why are people getting on at him for asking and about priating the fact is he would be buying it second hand from the guy so it wouldn't actually put anymore money in the artists pocket anyways, that guy is just taking you for a ride

i wouldn't do either, there are many places here people have suggested and i would get it from one of them

If you pay 20€ for a CD, it has a value. When buying it you are aware that you can sell it to someone else if you dont like it or get bored of it. If people wouldnt buy used CD's, it would decrease the records value and making the 20€ price for it too high.

E.g. sometimes i buy shitloads of CD's and DVD's, many of those times i'm not aware if those are going to be good or not, the reason why i can do this, is, cause i know i can sell it if i dont like it. I wouldnt have buyed nearly as many CD's or DVD's if i couldnt sell them to someone else. So in the end, it is taking money from the artists, because it would decrease the value of their product, thus making the price too high for it in many cases... in my opinion :)

As was already said, it goes really cheap on Amazon. I got a copy of it for 99 cents last year!

I guess the point I was trying to make really wasn't so much about stealing vs downloading, it was more about the fact that if you choose teh dodgy route, it will only encourage more dodginess... I didn't really put it across too well in my first post.

Buy it.

I think the only time you should download it is when it's 100% legal. Most DJs don't actually have preview tracks from CDs, though. It's more a rock thing.

Also, if you download it, chances are you'll also download a virus or two.

whispering i gotta say though, i know of no-one that would buy cd's if they didn't think they were good just because they could sell them on so i would have to say thats the minority but still buying second hand cd's does not help the producers anyway as it doesn't increase the record sales at all so no more money is put into there pockets

and i gotta say the owner of the record shop seems like a bit of a prick as he is trying to make money off the cd (which i bet he will probably copy before he got rid of it) as i very much doubt he bought it for £30 or is worth that much
