I totally respect that and I understand people have to make money - I hate the term "sellout" in all honesty, because making money for what you love doing is something everybody would love to do! Hell, if in a few years from now my DJing is good enough to make me money, which I doubt as it's only a hobby, then I'd be straight in there, mixing tunes I love to share the passion with the ravers.

@Ry0r, I have a lot to learn about the industry, as up to about a month ago, all I did was listen and start to get into mixing, so I appreciate that many of my points are probably total crap - it's all a learning curve though, I didn't even realise until last night that DJs on these forums and ush actively invite producers to send them tunes to go on albums they're putting together - that's what I love about hardcore, the community spirit, it's like a big happy family :D

Just to clarify, I have nothing against hardcore becoming huge globally and reaching out to millions of potential-ravers; hell, I'd love to be at a rave of 100,000 people one day! The only thing I worry about is hardcore getting moulded and shaped into some trance hybrid just to peak sales, but having read your post, I understand that it will never be a major issue, as there's always gona be producers out there true to the scene. Even if it does change a little to fit the desires of the largest audience, we'll still have plenty of quality hardcore coming out of the woodwork.

I was saying to a friend, I love how involved everyone can be with hardcore - if you mix, you can post it for people to listen to and comment on; if you produce, you can send your tunes to DJs and perhaps get them on an album... there's so many possibilities, and I just think it's fantastic that everyone's so involved with their passion.

Also, pointing out the lack of apostrophes may have been unnecessary and pointless, but I just wanted to bring attention to the fact that as long as its readable, then fair play - not everyone is well spoken, even online :) I'm not here for arguments, I'm here to learn, and expand my passion even further.

Just be happy :)
Joonyer

I'm going to say this again, like I've said before. I for one see no problem with hardcore getting big. The producers need to get paid, the dj's need to get paid, and do know who pays us? You, the Raver. Yes, you and only you will dictate our future in the hardcore scene. If the hardcore scene dies, then so does our careers as hardcore dj's. Keep hardcore a secret? That idea is total ********, and the only reason a raver would want that is so that they can say that they "belong" to an "elite" scene. I for one want to get paid money to do what I love to do. Call me commercial or a sellout, but I don't find anything wrong with someday making hardcore my job.

yeah i agree i wrote more in my post but it must not have gotten through?? anyways afta i wrote that last quote from another user that we have to protect and preserve hardcore from the outside world & from it getting tainted i also went on to say (the part that didnt get posted)
that i agree in my own way. What i mean by this is i dunt want the popularity of raves to turn them into the average club where there is a fight afterwards n a whole lot of shit errupts. Raves 2 me are all about fun, about the music, the djz, the PLUR & the ravers. No1 goes there to judge u thats y i luv the scene. . If it wasn't for the hardcore scene getting big i wouldnt have discovered it as i did a year n a half ago. Nah im not a dj or a producer im just simply sum1 who loves & has a passion for hardcore & i will do my part in keeping hardcore & its djz alive, purchasing cdz, attending raves, whatever it may be.
I hope this clears up what i tried to say in my half-posted comment.

Hardcore is da sound that's why we're underground

PLUR kinda died when the cops did a massive crackdown on drugs.

PLUR is a direct result of being on stuff. Thats not to say that PLUR cant exist, but less drugs, less PLUR.

When you meet me in person, you'll feel plenty of plur :)

whether people are going to liek it or not, all music scenes go through slumps like triquatra said, trance was huge then dropped off face of the planet but has been picking up again, it just depends how big a slump by how many new fans hardcore music can bring in before the slump

at the moment it is increasing (i hope it continues like this) but however there is a huge demand for songs at the moment and instead of signing new talent the big labels just remix stuff (looks at clubland tracklist and bonkers 14) instead of bringing in new refreshing talent that is just as good. people will get sick of this reptition sooner or later if nothing is done about it and all the good work that has been done since 2000 will all unravel again and it is all in the name of profit, they're afraid if they sign an unheard of producer people will just disregard it because they haven't heard the name before yet they should know that people within this scene are not like that because they know it is extremely hard to make it and require all the help they need and the scene aswell as all the artists future in the business are on a knifes edge.

something needs to be done quick if the slump is to be avoided, i am finding like 90% of the 'new' stuff boring, thankfully i can always reach back in my cd collection and get back to better times and there is plenty of freeform getting out so thats goos for me to

It's really simple...

People come and people go... but hardcore has been around since it started so it will always be here is some form - heck disco is still around so don't expect hardcore to die stone cold or anything....

I started HappyHardcore.com in 1999 at the death zone of happyhardcore music, I released my first vinyl on MasterWax Records in 2001 in the middle of the hardcore death zone when the only labels that were releasing hardcore were KFA, NG, BB and EV (only 4 labels!) - Not saying that I was solely responsible for a come back but I never gave up and put my own money on the table as did other people who bought the record - So that just goes to say what one person can do.

As for variety in hardcore it is reall simple - If you don't like the music, don't buy it - if you don't like Bonkers 14 or Clubland then don't buy it and buy something you do like - Resist and AATW will get the message :) You can always show your support to hardcore tunez 3 or other CD's that put the music over filling a disc with own material on CD's :)

it's all hardcore.

This is my first post ever on this website!

I been into hardcore since i was about 11 so about 7 years ago, when my brother got me into the scene and i never looked back to tell the truth. I remeber the days when i was listening to bouncy stuff on the bonkers on the early ones and lovin it and the death for hardcore for me in 99, not for me, i still listened and it was quality.

I like the scene as it is now, getting bigger, tune after tune. I buy all the cd's so woot, i am a hardcore addict. I want to my first rave about a month ago in portsmouth, fusion the return, best night of my life! In portsmouth/gosport the scene is quite big, i getting all my mates into it, telling everyobdy i listen to hardcore, some of them say haha shit, i say try it u ****er lol and then they love it!

In portsmouth down in south parade pier, fusion are the main boys doing raves there 1 or 2 a month and it is wicked!

Hardcore may implode but i will still be there and so will all of you who have posted here so i dont give a shit, HARDCORE TILL I DIE!
