some good reasons me think....
well. been into it for long time, ever since i had my helterskelter millenium dougal tape i fell in love with hardcore... I remember my day when i typed happyhardcore into (was either google or altavisa) search engine, subsribed here... couldn't beleive there was a website about this music. then got on ush (although that's just full of over-opinionated trendies from the london club scene).
I wasn't there in 1996 but if i could go back i would. I hate everything about it now... it bored me, I don't like the music (it's going knowhere) it's all hixxy this and that, they are like the bulldozers of the scene running over the good talent... the talent is actually coming out from people who want the 1996 sound back!!!!
sold my entire bonkers cd 1 to 13, didn't get 14 .... just the same old shit with me TRYING TOO HARD TO LIKE IT, but what really my heart was saying was, this is just naff white trash for the trendy generation.
also Chav culture, I can't be arsed to go into this right now but that's just another little reason. can't stand the way UK is all about saying 'yeah mate, going off friday night to get absoutly smashed' it's just a bit too england and scumy plus the let's all get in our novas, boom out some hardcore and mug people that's what i assosiate it with.
i didn't post much anyway, did more lurking.
bye all, I know I didn't post much but I'm now off to join some pre 1994 oldskool dance forums as that's what I beleive i should really like... much less chavvy.

Living in london and having been to many raves in this area, plus also being a major fan of the older eras of hardcore and jungle that your referring to, i can totally relate to everything your saying.
Thanks for being honest about it and whatever happens i wish you the best of luck with it all.
Take care mate

I totally disagree ^^, if 'chav culture' has any bearing on wether you stay within the scene or not then, i have to say imo, you are a sad, sad little person...

new hardcore is nothing like old hardcore, and I'm sure that someone would have come up with this style sooner or later. problem is, is you yourself have made some pretty lame statements to Kinokoboy.
You may not have been around "back in the day" yaddam, but the artists are the same for the most part, but they all broke away from the "toytown" sound of things so that it could give them credibility as dj's and give some validity to the music. You have made a narrow minded statement in a thread that was not meant to be your soapbox.
cheers hooverlover, do what makes you happy. We'll still be here if you decide to come back, and you will be welcome. I had to take a break from the scene about a year ago and it made me appricieate it more though.

If it wasn't for funk and soul we wouldn't have hardcore in the first place. let me break it down. funk and soul evolved into another form of hip hop. hip hop beats were sped up to make DnB and hardcore broke off of DnB. and I don't like old hardcore all too much either. not enough synths for my liking.

fair enough hooverlover, it'll be a shame to see you leave. Even though you've only made 321 posts it seems like alot more! I guess you just made those 321 posts really count.
Good luck with whatever you end up doing in the future. Oh, and a tip. I totally agree with everything you said, except the whole hardcore in its current state. Check out Luna C, Panacea, Belladonnakillz and whole load of other people if you think the scene is too Hixxified!

Agree with underloop is a lot more to the scene than hixxy and neds but i suppose from some angles thats all you'll see.
Thank god for raindance wenever i've felt like your feeling now it's reminded me that real rave culture is very much still alive and well.
Venga familia!!!
