Me again.....(the dude from holland)
To keep it a bit more simple for me i'll be answering some questions at the same time right now.
Yes...thunderdome parties are still organized a couple times a year and are still alive and kickin'!!! =)
And....how hardcore started??.....it all began when acid-house was invented in Chicago (yes in Chicago).
it then became big in the UK and a second 'summer of love' was being held in Ibiza island.
Only this time with acid-house insted of rock and with XTC insted of LSD (acid).
To make my point..... from acid-house came the 'House' music which was invented in the UK....then that transformed into Drum 'n' Bass in the UK.
The UK-house music was transformed into the Hardcore you al know today.
That transformation took place in Holland!! =) =)
last but not least..... The DOMINATOR hardcore festival that was resently held in Holland kicked ASSSS!!!
It was ****ing awesome!!
Grtz WhipLash (NL).
ps: I'd like to e-mail about this stuff to people...if anyone is interested... my e-mail adres is:..... [email protected]

House actually came out of the Disco scene in New York and Chicago, along with Garage....
Perhaps I am wrong on this score though :-)

Am i right in sayin that Stu Allen brought on a big influence in hardcore back in the early 90's with his Key 103 show?
Cos thats what got me into it and i believe a lot of people in the northwest especially Merseyside caught the hardcore bug?
I know Whittle av said this a few times but i think hes owed credit in a big way!
Come back Stu Allen! Please?

Correct, but the genre coined "Acid House" began with a young Marshall Jefferson and DJ Pierre in Chicago. It's heavy use of the Roland TB-303 is what differentiated it from the disco based "House" being played at the time.

I always thought Gabber started either in Germany or Holland? I always knew about Chicago house, DJ's like : DJ Markski, DJ Erik K and ETC are famous for that. Detroit Techno? that must've been ages ago...hmmm, I guess you learn something new everyday :)

Remember that hard tune back in early 90's that went:
'Rotterdam yeah'?
That was a bangin tune!

All the hardcore related wikipedia articles are a big mess.
However there have been 2 main roots of hardcore:
The breakbeat (of which the amen sample was used almost religiously)
The gabber (brought the introduction of the kick drum)
I need to dig up some old links/content from old (and I mean old) sites.
