I'm going with Ionosphere's idea. Basically because Hardcore (as in rubble) is all the bits of concrete, brick etc that people don't want and throw away. Someone comes along and puts it all together and you get a good firm solid foundation to your driveway!
Hardcore (music) takes samples of music that you wouldn't otherwise choose to listen to, puts it all together and you end up with a good firm solid foundation to your driveway.
Or something like that anyway

No but he was the only one to play it on radio 1 - try listening to "CLSM - John Peel is not enough!!"
