We have:
Hardcore
Softcore
Speedcore
Breakcore
Trancecore
Apple core and even 'Rapcore!' How many more do we need? At one time it was just all 'Hardcore'

Softcore is not a subgenre, you should know you made it up. Dont know where you got applecore and rapcore from? Think someone is pulling your leg there mate.

People automatically sub catagorise things, it's human nature. The memory works in this way, breaking things down into small groups then into even smaller ones. we sub cat everything! from data on our hardrives to goods in our supermarkets. Sub catagorising things makes things easier to find, remember and to explain so why would you not want to do it?

Thank you bulby, that is what I was going to say. Don't worry sooner or later Hardcore will have as many sub genres as House and Trance has. Next core: Progresspsy-break4x4-jackin-electrdirt-epictranctasiccore.

Why is everyone assuming that it should end in 'core?'
Gabba and freeform don't end in core (Einstein here)

eh, where have half of those come from?

there are three sub-genres of Happy Hardcore. These are Upfront, Freeform and Breakbeat.

Breakcore and Speedcore and sub-genres of Hardcore.

Trancecore is the old name for Freeform.

Softcore, Apple core and Rapcore? We'll thats the first I've heard of them and I've been into the music for a very very long time.

Not right at all.

Happy hardcore is a sub genre of HARDCORE as is Freeform and Breakbeat hardcore.

Hardcore is the actual genre that ALL the hardcore sub genres stem from... Unsurprisingly : P
