I don't have decks yet, though I'm definitely planning on getting them.
But I really hope vinyls continue being pressed because that's basically how
the scene originated...OLDSKOOL heh I don't think everything needs to be bumped up modernized (if that even made any sense). Surely I think the advances being made are great and that but I don't think things such as CDJ's or whatever should take over.

I'll (blindly) support vinyl until the day my wizened old fingers can no longer work my decks, then i suppose i'll give CD's a bit more recognition.

After many many years mixing vinyl with the odd CD thrown in, i just can't bear the thought of it being the other way round!

Cos i'm OLD SKOOL yeah, and i really love hearing those crackly 1996 beats on a lovely 10 year old vinyl.

*Shit, wrong account* ;)

DJ KULE, u ****ing dissapoint me!
u come on here making a thread about getting everyone to back vinyls then ask for a ****ing link to get some cdj's?????? uh??

since my envolvment with the whole ravin/clubbing scene in general i've come across more people prefer vinyl than cd's!
vinyl is just the original way of dojng things, i remember the day when me n my mate used to save up all our money, get on the bus outside my house travel to oxford, go in massive records, spend a good hour maybe more trying out all the vinyl on the stores decks, then whitllin em down to about 6 vinyl each, chat absolute bolocks wit the workers there about raves n records comin out, then go home n mix em in for the first time!

Now what happens is some nerdy little sweaty **** gets outta bed logs on to his pc then illegally downloads some tunes that producers have poured sweat n blood into, to get near on jack shit outta!

then everyone comes on hhc.com or some other forum n moans like **** when our best producers in the whole of the dance scene threaten to stop producing because vinyl sales have gone dramatically!
now dont get me wrong cdj's are a very good idea with the space it saves n that but is it just me or is it not worth losing the quality of the music for abit of extra practicality (i think thats the right term for it but not too sure )
It all comes down to cdj's would be a NICE idea if there weren't tracks to be illegally downloaded!! peace out n essay over!!

u hav a point. i never fort about it in those terms. although cds are good, i am personaly sticking with vinyl. i will maybe buy some cdj's and mix a few tracks with them, but at the end of the day, my heart is on vinyl. admitidly, when vinyl does die, i will aaccept that fact and mix with cds. but untill it does die, i will use mainly vinyl. if i had a choice on whetehr to get a tune on cd or on vinyl, i would choose vinyl. this is waht ive been trying to say, although unfortunatly, my arguing skils are rele poor when it comes to heated discussions.

so im going to start again. cds may replace vinyl completly 1 day, but untill then, i will mix with vinyl. i fear that the moment vinyl sales are down, producers will stop pressing them and transfer all tunes onto cds and mp3. does any1 want that day 2 come soon? because i know that i don't. who agrees?

only noobs seem to be the ones pissing over cd's. Most dj's I know use cd's also, most big name dj's only use cd's, surprise. They don't even use the vinyl they sell. No sound loss, on cd, you'd be playing the same exact tune that the producer is playing rather than some cut rate version of it carbon copied to 500 plates of grainy vinyl. The people that are slating cd use over vinyl have no idea of what you are talking about.

Once again we find ourselves in agreement, Mr. Ritalin.

Apart for the sake of nostalgia, there is really no advantage of vinyl over CD IMO.

My post sounded stupid aftere reading the above two posts, so I therefore decided, against my better judgement, to delete my post.
It sounded like I was trying to come across as 'clever' in this topic, but I don't even mix. I don't know the difference but IMO, the more functions a deck has (CDJs) the better and more fun it is, although more likely to go wrong.

I shall conclude by saying this: 'Eat, Drink and be merry my fellow comrades, for tomorrow may never come.'

That's true!
Lugging my flight case around was some of the best exercise that I ever got!

Especially holding it over my head as I ran down an alley in Chicago with the fuzz chasing me.
