Ok guys dont all attack me at once for my ignorance, but do guys still use whistles in raves in your respective countries?
Im from australia sydney and last time i was at a rave (RBC rocked prophecy!!!), i felt a little bit out of place. Well not really i was having too much fun at the time. But anyway i was going off with my whistle at no one else was, but the look on ravers faces when they see a sri lankan guy, off his chops, covered in glow, rocking to the beat with a whistle was worth it. They loved it and i loved it too, but looking back on it it would have been so much better if there were a whistle crew.
When MC Wizzkid says "Wheres the whistle crew, i wanna hear some noise" it was me and some random whistles around the place. Me personally after hearing some HTID sets, i had to use a whistle.
So back to the question are whistles still in or are they not... in any more?
P.S. Im not a raver since the good old days either even though im 24, I started listening to this music about a year ago and started raving about 6 months ago.

I still have my trusty metal whistle, we've been through some times together :). Seems to be loads of whistles at parties still but the horn crew tends to be dying off a bit.

Well, we always did have whistles in the "good old days" when being a gabber at a rave stood for something
Sadly when "breezah-partypeople" infiltrated our scene, all the girls and even some of the guys are sucking on (christ, here is where my english fails) ...
The thing that babies suck on to keep them from crying I suppose... And above the riddicules sight, there are lights in it as well... (Hope you know that I mean)
To bad, I kind of liked the whistles...
*Remembers the old days*

Pacifiers is the word your looking for, we get them at raves over here as well and they've been around quite a while. I think the reason people originally had them is to stop themselves chewing their mouth but there just another bit of "rave uniform" now.

Plenty of horns and whistles at the weekender. (I had both) not many pacifiers thank god - I think they look so stupid. A lot of the guys in my groups had mouth guards tho that look just as stupid as pacifiers!

What's with the American speak?
Pacifiers?
Call 'em Dummies where i come from!!!
And yes (to reanswer the original question), whistles are still very much a part of rave culture (even though i've only ever used one once in 15+ years of raving).

It was Gary who started it and I didn't want to confuse issues

Sorry I blame all the American TV shows, films etc that are on nowadays. I struggle to remember what's "English" and what's English.

I hate whistles at raves, there is nothing more irritating that some jackass that keeps on blowing that thing whilst you're trying to get the feel of your fave tune being played... when that happens I secretly wish for someone to bump into them so they swallow their whistle and it gets stuck in their throat so that every time they exhale a soft whistling sound comes from their throats... that'll teach em to **** with my raving-experience *evil laugh*
