So i went into the shopping centre today after work to buy some hardcore albums, gotta love pay day, and went looking for the Hardcore UK section.....to my horror the only section they had was entitled "dance" which covered ALL types of dance from house to trance to hardcore UK u name it and the section was a mere 3 shelves in size. Appauled by this i approached the counter and asked if they had any bonkers albums behind the counter, she replied "yes" and then asked me "what bonkers was just released?was it 5 or 6"!!!! Where is the hardcore scene in the land of Aus!!!Deltra Goodrem and the Back Street boys get 5 friggen shelves to themselves and hardcore gets shoved in between House and Disco, What can us Aussie ravers do to improve the scene?
Anyone else had an experience like that?

You can't find ANY hardcore other than gabba in Holland in a regular music store. And even in specialist shops I haven't been able to find ONE Bonkers CD ever.

I even went to my record store asking about bonkers and Hardcore heaven...

I just get some stuppid looks. So I'll stick to vinyls and maybe when I get to the UK this year, I'll buy the whole damn lot
But I don't care much for cd or mp3, expect for mixes made by DJ's I know "for real"

But if I go to a cd store, even our most treasured "Thunderdome" cds are in the same catagory as Trance and even collection with 60's music
I couldn't get even one to look at...
After talking about it with the retailer, they just laughed and say to my face: "Didn't you hear? Gabber is out!"

pop into hmv or virgin and ask about their ordering policy, there must be something in place about ordering stock in for you because after all, your their customer and they are there to serve you. I mean its not as if these cds are non-existant.

I've done that twice in HMV. Once in Manchester and once in Preston and both times I was less than impressed. I think the HMV website is ok, but ordering from in-store - forget it!

"This is a record store, isn't it?

I am a customer.

Don't look at me like that just because you don't know what I'm talking about.

Where's the manager?

If you don't stock it then you can can order it (you may need to pay a deposit, or pay in full)

Here's my phone number.

Call me when it arrives.

Thank you."

....and then walk out.

Sorted.

No, no it was all fine at first. They looked it up on the computer. Said they either had some in stock at another store, or they were due some stock in or whatever. took my number etc (no deposit). Didn't call for 2 weeks. Rang them up asking about it, it was still "on order". Gave it another week and then found the item I wanted else where. They still haven't called to this day LOL.

I did make a complaint, but tbh it really did fall on deaf ears. I just got an explanation of how the ordering process works, to which my response was "well thats great, but I was told it was coming in, either from the supplier or another store - I don't want to be kept waiting for x weeks". This was actually a few months after I placed one of the orders when I went in to ask if they had another item in stock and got told they could order it LOL

Ah, yes that happens but then you write a very polite but 'firm' letter of complaint to the company's head office,

and mention that if you aren't dealt with, properly and very soon, a letter of complaint will be sent to the local newspaper as well the music press.

N.B. It also helps if you make a point of taking the store manager's name upon your initial attempt to buy the record they don't have.

Music stores are usually staffed by supercillious, arrogant, cocky little gits or bimbos, hangers on to the tail-ends of the music world 'glamour'.

Record shops. I love 'em.
