Come to Florida, we're as south as it gets, and hardcore is a growing genre here!

What is wrong with Mass, except for the lack of hardcore?

I think Mortemer meant geographically and not culturally. I heard Texas had a hardcore following while Noaphex (AKA Muppet****er) lived there, before he moved to the west coast. I think he lived in Dallas... Did hardcore leave Texas with him?
To pitch in an opinion on hardcore in New England, it is rare that you hear hardcore in New England these days. One of those rare ocassions was this past Saturday at Dance 'til Dawn 5. One guy was mixing breakbeat, upfront, and hard trance. Another guy was mixing breakbeat and non-choon hardcore. It was refreshing to hear.
I am working with an event organizer to help bring hardcore back to these parts. I dropped hardcore at his first event back in December and the crowd loved it. I get to drop hardcore again at his next event in a little over a month too. Slow process, but it is coming along, I think. Just need to find some more good hardcore DJ's in the area to help regrow things.

well here in texas? You laso had dj flippy who lives in AUSTIn.texas, but other than events that occur no, not here in san antonio i'm sure of that(which is good b/c music here gets overexposed and awrong following here).
But thats awesome your trying to bring it back where it never had it. I think hixxy came here back in the late 90's with flippy but never saw it due the fact I must have been 11(i was stuck listening to that electro/breaks/acid genre and was a little boy so didn't know). Yeah, america is very divided with hardcore and well texas as far as in houston and Dallas and austin its all pretty much dance music in purest forms with acts of pvd and tiesto and irene and d:fuse comin here to texas but nothing really out of the extreme. POTD has come here to austin and san antonio but never made asplash. Really scks texas to me is a wasteland when you get down to it.

Woah, never said that New England "never" had a hardcore following... Between 2000 and 2002, hardcore was very BIG here. Not that many big names from the UK came here, but they did get Luna-C over here for one. And that was pretty much for the last hardcore event during that hey-day. During that time, there were several local hardcore DJ's that were in high demand to spin hardcore. Spree, out from the midwest, came one time.
As the hey-day was ending, everyone got the hots for jungle. That was popular for a while, and then garage became the big thing. Recently, breaks has been at the forefront.
