What does everyone think of UK Hardcore at the moment? Personally I think there needs to be another big evolution of the stale over used trance sound. People are getting bored of the same old string sounds. Between 1995 and 2000 the music evolved so much more than it has from 2000 - 2006. It seems producers are scared to be adventurous like the oldskool days. There should'nt be a set format in hardcore and rave music where everything has to sound trancey. It's not what it's about. I used to buy almost every release back in the 90's when Slipmatt, Vibes, Vinylgroover were around. Love all the old Universal, Pengo, Essential platinum, World Of Obsession, Evolution, Ravers Choice, Slammin Vinyl type stuff. Back then it was so exciting. I probably buy 1 or 2 records a month now and I'm sure there are plenty of others out there like me. There are so many other sounds - other than the trancey sound that can be used. Just lisen to an oldskool hardcore track and you really notice how much more creative rave music was back then. There's the occassional producers who try new productions techniques like Ham, Robbie Long, Joey Riot and a few other big names. But it's not done nearly as much as it should. The Trance scene has shrunken in size immensly while house and electo scenes have really grown in poplularity. This is simply cause people are over the trancey sound. Come on, six years of trance is enough!! Its getting very BORING! Lets hear more pianos, house electro or even hardstyle type influences. Even influences from the oldskool would be nice. People slagging off latest bonkers just proves that people are getting bored of the same old sounds. Trance was fresh six years ago, but its no longer 1999 where we were all trying to be like Gatecrasher cyberkids. If hardcore does't start evolving, the rave scene will have a repeat of 1999. The scene will fall into a slump. I'd bet my house on it. You can't keep pumping out the same shit and expect people to be interested.
Let us know your thoughts hardcore people.

hardcore has always evolved and hopeful will always continue. The trance sound may have been around for a few years but if u ask me its as fresh as ever with djs like slideout, sam punk and the trance generators.

Hardcore will change especially as the scene grows. I feel there are some great up and coming producers. New ideas will continue to come.

What old tunes would people like to see remixed??

I would love to hear Fade and Bannanaman- Dream Surprise remixed.

Dude I've been saying this for months, but your forgeting one thing... hardcore is more then just the gay upfront bollocks you here on bonkers...

You've got freeform, happycore, breakcore ect...

let upfront stay reppative and gay... who cares?
wannabie f*cks that treat hixxy and recon like rockstars rather then DJ's???
hey **** it... cuse thats probly what them cocks at raverbaby want anyways...

hardcore has come to a point now where... if you don't like a style... it don't matter... you can still like other styles and not be involed with the other tis tash!!!

as for the trancy sound... and trying new things... coming from me myself as a producer, i can tell you it happens all the time... just one problem tho... everytime you try something new... and dish it out a few samples to people...

the hardcore fans go - ermmm... its not very good..
however almost every other genre goes... "man i love it!!!"

kinda proves something don't it ^^^^
the problem is cuse people are used to hardcore fo so long now...
THAT THEY TREAT IT ASIF THERES RULES TO HOW IT SOULD SOUND!

"so if it don't sound like this and that... then it ent hardcore!!!"
BUT ITS 180 BPM YOU COCK!!!! lol

Anyways... Most my music these days has pianos in them... but i will always keep trance in there as I'm a trance artist aswell.... but i think its importent to spread your sounds out in one track, instead of just being trance start to finish! - so you sould slap pianos, harps, retro noises bla bla bla... whatever in it you know...

you'll find mate that there are loads of upcomin producers that feel the same way, and are producing some smaching stuff... also people that will sit down and incorpreate 6-8 diffrent melodys together in 1 track...
Instead of say... a bass, a dig dog noise and a ONE 4 step melody! and a kick fill after every 16 steps... lol

yeah ok... it sounds good and you can dance to it... but wheres the talent man? theres like no feeling to it!!!!

and ofcource the upcoming producers and guys that will sit down and try new things... have one problem... they ent signed and ent out there!!!

why??? CUSE THERE STYLE/SOUND IS NOT WHAT THE SCENE WANTS!!!
so bollocks to them!!!

what happened to the days where you would experiment a bit you know...
work on a prototype and then just drop it into your set at the club, playing the first part then mixing out just so you as a producer can see what the crowd feels of the vibe!!!

its that dead??? ^^^

me myself I'm just working my ass off with my music latly, and keeping ALL OF IT underwraps!!! I've pulled all my stuff down off the net, and the only stuff i have up is my really old stuff or stuff thats just... shite!!! lol

but when the time is right i'll be publishing alot of my stuff on the net and sending off demos...
mostly all the upfront first... just so i can try and get in there...

soon as I'm in the front door tho... then thats the time to start dising out other styles...

intill then... i think me and alot of other unsigned producers are in the same boat.... CAN'T DO **** ALL!!!!

not just that but me and few other guys are planing to start up a new gerne... called "funnycore"...
basiccly 200BPM upfront, but incorpriating everything from the 90's with the new... but the catch is that the vocals in the tracks will be piss takes lol. i mean funny shit!!!

so you'll be stoping about with a huge smile on your face again...
witch sould bring back the same feeling from the mid 90's
but only.... its new!!!

far to many people complain about the old sound being better... and "them where the days, bring it all back" bla bla bla ect ect

to be fair these people havn't got a brain in there head...
alot of things DIE!!!! and you can't bring something back from the grave!!
cuse people go "been there, done that"

however you CAN incorpriate something new from something old!!!
AND THATS WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE!!!

its amazing how people havn't already fort of that in the scene!!
hey... they remix tooooo many ****ing tracks in this scene as it is!!!
so... WHY NOT REMIX THE F*CKING SCENE! INSTEAD!!!

if hardcore wants to evole
wants to try something new...

Then they need to start listening to people like me and you...
my prediction tho is...
hardcore will just become like dirty speed garage (oh gawd!!)

the've already got a repative bass sound in almost VERY upfront track...
all they need now is pussy chavette 14 year olds up and down the contry thinking the music "makes em ard!!!"

OH **** THAT WOULD SUCK!!!!

all i can say really is...hey, i predicted bonkers 16 to suck donkey didn't i?

Trance is for ****1ng pussies

before i start biggin up trance let me make clear hardcore is my first love.

You should nt dis other styles just cause they aint ur thing. Trance isnt for pussies. hardcore is great for a more happy vibe but trance can convey a much darker feel.

If I am in a good bouncy mood then hardcore all the way. But if i want a dark feeling dirty stomp then hard trance all the way. Hardcore doesnt do dark well sum stuff just ends up sounding like a robot having a meltdown.

in fact at some big events i have been to like slammin vinyl i have enjoyed the hard trance rooms more. there are no chavs or people there just because its popular. u get people just because they personally love it and it gives a better vibe.

I couldn't agree more, I am pleased that much of the old stuff is comming abck but the comercial for Hardcore Nation 3 just looks stale.

At this rate we would be seeing old skool Upfront sounding the same as it would in ten years time. Freeform is the future and the new Acid sound would tale over and I am all for the 1990s Hardcore to return but the mainstream Uk/ Upfront Hardcore? Just got stale I think!

Been listening and raving to hardcore for many years and the scene is much mre diverse than it ever has been and i dont think i would have got back into it in a big way like i have if it wasnt (spent few years away from raves)

I dont think the problem that Rapid Bass described is that there arnt enough ppl tryin new things its that a commercial side to things is making it a bit more difficult for newer things to get out so u here mre of the same thing

As long as theres always hardcore around that keep u smilin when u listen from whatever style of ----core, then it cant be all bad can it

I thought the same thing about Gabber the last few years (Mainsteam anyway) with the trance thing but latley its releasing loads of good diverse stuff! if anyone into hardcore into any genre relies on commercial albums to listen to the music then you've got no chance! but if you're willing to search then you will find loads of good stuff!

I agree, the freeform, breakbeat and cube::hard/clsm type stuff is great. I'm really not feeling other sounds, especially Raver Baby
