I love the way Happy Hardcore is. Female vocals, happy-go-lucky/Euphoric melodies, bouncey beats, thats why I love Happy Hardcore. Hardcore has changed A LOT in the past 2 years alone. Maybe its becuase I only hear it on cd releases, and not every weekend like yall do. I dunno, but I love Happy Hardcore! My fav. tunes right now are "Elevator" and "More & More"!!! Happy Hardcore the way it needs to be...Happy!

I like happy hardcore in it's current state but as long as a style of music has fans and producers then it can always evolve.

What's wrong with hardcore?

1.Raverbaby; they are the blueprint for the scene, the biggest hardcore label, and most of what is released on there label is unimaginative, repetive, vocal, hardcore influenced trance, not trance influenced hardcore like it should be.

You look at any big rave in the UK, count the amount of DJ's booked to play in the main arena that release stuff on Raverbaby, quite alot.

The ravers are stiffled by one sound, if you're lucky you might get one or two DJ'S that play freeform.

2. DJ's getting booked purely on merit for their production skills i.e Darren Styles, I just don't rate him as a DJ, atall. And on the flipside to that many top name DJ's & Talented Up & Comers not getting booked. Another problem is the DJ's who do get booked at the moment like to showcase there own stuff, rather than play a few of other people's stuff, like it used to be.

What's right with Hardcore?

1. RFU; Some of the most innovative, fresh & good hardcore is coming from this label, from the likes of Cube::Hard, Darwin, Chywhynny, Hattrixx etc.

2. Thin & Crispy / Ham; Producing a hard edged ravey style which to me is a fantastic reflection of Modern Fun Hardcore i.e Trigger Hardcore.

3. Joey Riot / Kurt / Seduction/ Delite etc; Producing a bouncy sound incorperating old skool stabs, piano's and the odd lil bit of breakbeat in the breakdown. A really fun sound which would be perfect if it was a bit tougher (in regards to the kick drum).

4. Gammer; needs a mention all on his own, consistantly one of best producers in the scene, since 2001 has been producing top quality hardcore be it UK Hardcore, Freeform or Gabber. Wicked DJ too.

5. Finnish Freeform; I haven't heard alot of it, but with the response it's getting, surely more of it needs to heard at raves. :E

In conclusion, it has evolved rather well, other than the Raverbaby influenced side of things, which is all samey, boring pretty much now.

Thank You for time your people.

why is everyone havin such a huge rant about how "innovative" freeform is? is raverbaby-esk stuff is just sped up trance, freeform is pretty much just sped up house/hard house/hard NRG.
dont get me wrong, i do like a bit of freeform, but i dont think everyone should run around slagging of producers liek darren styles & re-con etc, just because they're playing a different sound to what u wanna hear. they are ****ing talented producers and deserve respect for the level of skill they hav.

I'm not saying they lack talent but Upfront ahs gotten really stale at the moment IMO. Freeform seems to be going places but then I am saying that as I like Freeform more.

So was Happy Hardcore 'Upfront' in the 1990s? I think Upfront means the latest and up to date Hardcore with lacks harder kicks and breaks and is often played at a slower speen than some Hardcore yet is faster than Hosue and Trance and is Trancy with bass lines. I think soon we would be seeing 'Old Skool Upfront' Cds out with Upfront tracks from 2002/2003!
