What got you hooked on hardcore or trance etc and when is the first time you heard it.

-----------

I was about 12 and was at my uncles flat for a day, he had some decks etc and started playing some, at first I didnt like it much and just watched the footy game but when I got home, I phoned my mates and got a sleepover set up, my mate is filthy rich so his house is perfect for a rave. the forst rave we had was shit, only stuff like Hed Kandi, Euphoria and the odd Happy Hardcore album were played. It was amzaing at the time. Thats until I bought an album....Bonkers 9: Hardcore Mutation. I asked the guy at the till what was hot in hardcore and he recommended it, we slammed CD3 on which was mixed by Scott Brown and listened to it all the way through all night and teh following day at our second rave. Songs like "Neckbreaker" and "Ghosts" were on so it was the best mix IMO. After that, we started buying loads of albums for real raves and as I learned more about it, we made his extension(which is huge) into a nightclub. we had lights, an elevated stage for the DJ/MC etc and although there were no real stars, We all felt like one. My mate lived up in the country and he had no neighbours so the music had no boundries! We raved and raved and raved and thats where I am today

I grew up listening to early Euro Dance

2001-02: Heard Daft Punk's "Discovery" and it all went up from there!

Then, sometime in 2002, walked into Wal-Mart and saw "Happy2bHardcore ch.4" and sampled it, loved it, and bought it. And then I got all the Happy2bHardcore chapters, Ch.1 & 2, & 3 being the hardest to find. Then, I got into the Bonkers series, Original Hardcore vol.1, and on and on till the other day, I got Hardcore Nation 3.

What got me hooked....hmmm...the fact that it was diffrent, had a whole diffrent culture, and loved the bouncey, happy Hardcore beatz!!

most tracks from Anabolic Frolic's Happy2bHardcore chapter 3 for 3½ years ago. If I'm allowed to discuss how I heard it, that depends on silver

Liked dance most of my life, even when younger I used to like the odd Eurodance stuff (like 2Unlimited) and stuff played at school discos. As I got older I got into the whole Trance/Ibiza stuff that was what was considerd dance a fews back yet my curiosity of the stuff from the 1990s lead me into buying a Cd from a record shop in Bournemouth which is now closed (Destiny Records) which happend to be Slipmatt Live at Te Sanctuary, Milton Keynes Summer 1996. Unlike dance it was faster and more techno but grew to love it, with the MC (Charlie B I think) I never felt alone to it and soon a got a CD a mate leant me with Happy Hardcore from differnt CDs.

By the end of 2004 I brought Bonkers after someone told me I might like it as i was getting into Hardcore. It was so much better than mainstream dance being faster yet I felt something for the classics from the 1990s! When I got Happy 2 B hardcore chapter 1 from Amazon (which I brought as it had Heart of Gold- Force and Styles on) I heard Hixxy and Sharkey's Wanthing to Get High (but just credited to Hixxy) I loved the sound of the hard 4/4 kickdrum and the whole CD is still amazing now with the beats mixed together.

By now I own all 16 Bonkers (which toke me a year to hunt most of them down) and now I am forever searching for more stuff and getting into Hardcore from the early 1990s too!

i've been into dance since i was 6 or 7... all the old eurodance while i was living in England. When i got to Australia i got into Wild FM, which is commercial dance/trance... the stuff that was hot in the clubs, Nick Skitz and Alex K and KCB and the like... when i was 8, one of the guys that worked with my dad leant me a tape which had stuff like here's Johnny, eternity, the key on it, which i fell in love with!! but after that i didnt find much on the rave scene in australia (plus i was only an anklebiter), until i heard Shooting Star, Eyeopener, Toytown and all my "oldschool" faves... and that got me back into it! found my old mix tape and got back into that!! but hardcore is insanely hard to get in Australia, so the only releases i got wasan old Thunderdownunder CD off a mate which went OFF, and another mate gave me an MD mixed by Chester, again really cool!

so i was stuck in that bubble for about 6 months (shooting star and all for about a year) until....

i went to england after my HSC... came back with a suitcase filled with bonkers and happy 2b hardcore, which got constant rotation in my cd player!! I kept getting more and more into the scene, ordering CD's online, finding what i could in the stores here. Went to my first rave in Feb this year, and never looked back... Prophecy UV!! the Raver Baby Crew came out and my the world stopped... Got more and more into it again, bought all the hardcore cds i could find, then eventually got decks, so i'm starting my vinyl collection!!

and here i am today
