when i was about 9 or 10,my older brother had what i called 'rave tapes'.they consisted of every style of underground music.after listening,i was drawn to a tape by seduction.it was from a dance planet tape pack.from then on i found out which other djs were playing that style and iv stuck with it ever since.

My cousin handed me his discman when we went mountain biking
this was in 1997 when I was 9 yrs old.
The CD had a few Dune tracks (Starchild, Million Miles, etc.)
I was hooked. Seeing as I didn't know anything about this music I quickly forgot about it when I lost the CD
I then had a short rap phase, punk phase and very quickly moved onto electronica again (psy, epic trance)
but I got back into hardcore in 2000...and have been into it ever since!
:D
