Well around here DnB is becoming more common in parties where hardcore is becoming less common. Frequently I see DnB on the main stage but rarely have I ever seen that for hardcore.

smoogie ur right, bouncy techno hardcore was the scottish/dutch genre of hardcore back in the 90's.
the rez and fubar days were the best with djs like scott brown, bass generator and technotrance.
you should try and get a listen to some of the tapes from rezerection or the fubar that will confirm everything.

DnB has always remained a very "love hate" thing with me!
On one hand!
I here some F*cking OUTSTANDING work! that really blows me away!
And On The Other Hand!
I hear the most untalented peace of shite ever... stuff that a 2 year old baby could probs HUM a tune better! - and the worse thing is, you here tracks like this on mainstream dnb albums (and that really puts me off!)
But then the same thing kinda happens with hardcore, but only not as bad! lol!
Also, i don't like some of the arogence of some of the ravers involed in dnb!
Despite some events being sold out chav fests! some of them have the cheak to slag off hardcore down to the growd... yet, as we all know, it was "hardcore breaks" that gave birth to what became of there scene in the first place!
Some of them even call "oldskool" - "oldskool dnb" (man the cheak)
like i say... very "love hate" on my side
I have repsect for dnb artists, but some just have no respect at all for hardcore!
^^^ and that i don't condone! one bit!

The thing with bad DnB tracks is that you tend not to notice them so much as there are many more releases. The tracks that are bad tend to be bland and boring imo. Unlike bad hardcore they dont tend to make me scream or want to rip my ears off.
As for DnB moving in on hardcore smoogie, what do you mean?

Hardcore (or old skool hardcore as it seems to be known now) split into Happy Hardcore and Drum & Bass. There used to be alot of links between them but they've grown further and further apart over the years.
I used to like both scenes equally but now I mainly listen to D&B. Of current hardcore its only the Hardcore Breaks & Kniteforce stuff that interests me.

infact, oldskool treed off into jungle (which was the more seri and for real side!) where as hardcore breaks carryed on being crazy and started goiing off the rails a bit like ;) and then evoled into happy! (so there basiclly the same thing)
Jungle, became its own thing though, and it was this... that evoled into DnB! around 1996 when regga stareted to loose its touch!

The styles of each genre are way too different to have one take over the other, just wouldn't work.

The Hardcore Breaks name has only been around for a couple of years and it doesnt describe post split hardcore.
You and smoogie should have a competition to see how can talk out of their arse the most.

I hav luvd hardcore ever since i herd my eldest cuz playit one x-mas i think i as like 10 or something but he was nice enf to give me my 1st cd then n there n i had no clue as to sort of music it was let alone the hole club/rave culture. my point i have n always love hradcore. I really like drum and bass but it could never replace hardcore!
but quickly on another note i live in perth aus n dnb has really taken off here it is like everywhere especially it seems in my age group~maybe its cos wen hradcore was really flyin high we were still in primary skool!
