I like some added tastefully but if its too loud and constant i think it ruins the track.
Do you love it or could you happily live without it?

When scratching is done well it can add so much to a set. When its done badly it can make a good set bad.
Variety of samples and patterns is also important.

Yes, I skratch but for Hardcore you gotta be very fast, ussually. I think pretty much every DJ has his/hers techniques to mix and a lot of it is like skratching! I like a mix with skratching personally...

you don't have to be very fast, you can scratch in half time.
like clarke said variety is the key...if it's repetative it gets boring
I usually keep the volume level a little under the volume of the track playing, but you should use your judgement as far as what's too loud.

Not a big fan.
Sy's mixes on the HH suck due to this for me. It isn't fun if you're scratching 2 times per track.
A nice scratch here and there is cool. But too much just ruins the music.

i do like sratching but if its close to every other track...it just brings me away from the track playing.

Definatly agree, if his scratching on HH CDs were about 3X less often, it would work so much better

as long as the scratching doesn't interfear with the tune itself then im all the more for it. I personally love Sy's scratching and I think he knows when to do it right; like between mixes/during a break when its just the beats or the tune slows down.

who said everyone had to love him? =P
I do enjoy the sy's sets but he spends too much time scratching and not enough time on mixing imo, mainly his live sets I mean
