When you find out, make sure you tell Sy, he's been asking that question since QSH007...

I belive a DJ should'nt be judged by his Scratching as mainly befor the 'Scratch' was inventer a DJ was judged on his abilities to mix and blend, Some scratching is just gloorafied noise but as a Mix & Blend DJ i find my self compelld to say Scratching is somthing i could do withought (even tho i can do it, i ralrely use it unless im doing various Hip Hop sets)

Variation and flexibility is definetly a DJ's most valuable asset

Q: what is a dj if s/he cant scratch?

A: a boob. that's what.

mixing (i.e. beat matching) requires no skill, especially for a form as formulaic as happycore. therefore, scratching must substitute for how skill is gauged in this scene.

/hatter :P
//just finished a set and hands are covered in dust cause it's been so long
///can still pwn nubs

Love scratching....And to this day, I don't think i've ever heard anyone scratch better than DJ Tizer....absolutely spot on. Uses everything, scratches on a 3-deck set...during a mix...mind numbing and absolutely unreal to see live.

Thumbs up.

Then your blatently a shite DJ m (no offence)

DJing is more in the mind! Those of you who think its all "oh yeah, lets play one track into another!" are wrong!

I've herd sooo many sets where they mix tracks that just DON'T GO!!!
and sets where, overall doesn't have any flow!

Being a DJ, you need to have variety, you need to understand your crowd!

If you was to play anthem after anthem - once again... your shit!

to be good, you need flow... just like a producer slaps breakdowns in there mix!
A DJ does that with tracks, decieds how long there on for, before droping another one that make everyones hairs stand up!

Its all about varity! and thats the only skill you need with DJing

You wouldn't want the crowd to get tired too early in the night would you?
You wouldn't want the crowd to loose there flow?
and you wouldn't want them to WALK OUT!!!

They may only be "punters" ^^^ but there the things you need to "handle" mostly when being a DJ - not just vinyl

love hearing a bit of scratching if it's done right. think sy's scratching on the HH series is too fake sounding, he uses multiple samples and FX at the same time and you can tell it's not "live" scratching.

prefer kutski's scratcing, you can tell he's a turntabilist and not just someone who can do a few patterns.

i learned to scratch before i could mix but im still a long way off bein as good as either of the above !! hopefully 1 day will be though.
