well if was your first time, it can only get better from here! try writing something simpler to start with. work on your different loops and parts separetly, but you're deffinately catching that old school break beat sound... somewhere in there....

take the advice of those posters who are all "let hardcore be what it is". as completely contradictory and confusing as that statement sounds (is...whatever), let your chunes "be what they are".

hey sk8 how did you get that piano sound in the second 16 bars of your song? ive tried to get that sort of effect but it doesnt sound anything like that

Reverb is your friend 
Study that image for a bit ^^^
Fairly Simple, not alot of tweaking involed!
It was done with FL Keys & FL Reverb... So anyone can do it really!
Room size around 40
Reverb around 40
Decay around 5
And then slap your predelay right up
Then notch the EQ up abit around your midflow, expand the bandwidth alittle just to fill the sound out a little like!
And waalaa! let the emotion fill the room
Its not a good idea to ever add to EQ - normally the saying goes "less = more"
But if your just trying to create an effect then its all good... but if your doing a mixdown EQ (as i have yet to do on this track) Then them rules defo apply!
Its also a good idea to turn the "stereo" down on the piano VSTi itself... and then split the higher and lower noted melodys into there own channel... (As you can see, I havn't done it in this instance!)
This way you can mannully pan them and contral the sound more and get an overall better effect!

As you can see, ^^^ my style of music... that sound is used praticlly in all my music! I can't get enough of it...
i kinda now class it as a trademark of "THE Sk8SiM Sound" hehe!
