Have I gone overkill on anything? Do I need more of something? Is the price OK?
It's to be used mainly for music production but I do play games as well.

it would probably be a good idea to get a second cd/dvd drive, which would enable u to copy a cd without ripping it to a lower quality first.
also a second hard disk to keep backups of the first in case u need to format it for some reason.

Would like to but am saving money where I can :(. Got a whole house to furnish too. Could add these at a later date though. It's not something I've ever had before though and not something I have a great deal of need for.

vista still has a couple of compatibility issues, but companies are working around that, most hardware/software has vista drivers these days.
other than that, sweet build
edit: just means it's gonna be a pain if you buy software or hardware for your computer, gotta make sure that its vista compatible

I would change Vista to XP ...and personally i think Lian Li's cases are sexy as hell. But those are just personal preferences :p Donno about the actual parts, havent been up to date with computers lately.

Cheers guys.
Haha, was more the actual parts I was enquiring about ;). Case is not a fuss for me, gonna be under the desk anyway.
Have thought long and hard about the operating system but after speaking to plenty people using Vista for production I've decided to take the plunge.

Parts look fine mate. Not sure on the soundcard as i'm not really up on them.
Have you looked at the motherboard specs for future proofing?
Any Idea what make the psu is?
*Edit*
64 or 32bit Vista?

I'll take a look at the PSU and motherboard mate. Don't think the PSU says though, could e-mail them.
Have decided to just go with Vista32 and only upgrade to 3 mb ram.
*edit*
Mboard seems to have plenty enough spec for upgrades.
BTW - sound card doesn't matter 'cus I have my own "production standard" soundcard to fit.

Hahaha. That would mean having to fork out for Logic as well! Not even an option I'm afraid ;). Maybe one day, when I'm rich.
Also... Barely any games out on the Mac :(.

Claps. A wise choice.
Vista seems to work fine for some people and shockingly badly for others
