Been having a discussion with a few people on wether or not they like the direction Dougal & Gammer are taking their sound.
IMO Gams is doing what every other producer should be doing. Experimenting. Simple as. Dougal & Gammer seem to be at the forefront of trying to take uk hardcore in another direction as you can tell from their latest productions clearly heavily influenced by electro house. As you know gams likes to dabble in hard house and recently had his debut set at 'One Awsum Night' last week and gams bein gams has decided to **** with uk hardcore once again and make this cheaky party stomper named 'Happy Hard House'. TBH i think the other big names, and smaller names for that matter, should take a leaf out of Matt's book and tryin to experiment a bit. The scene would all be the same if it werent for the these guys trying to change it up a bit.
Anyway i would be intrested to hear anybodies thoughts on this matter.

I think Dougal & Gammer are the most unique in the UK hardcore scene at the moment. Not saying everything they do is great but they're different (for the most part) and Wii Go Crazy is ****ing ace!

exactly
their recent vocal numbers have been awesome - but that's not a "new" sound by any means
their "new" sound is stuff like "the tunnel", "Boom Daka", etc.
and I dislike it.

Dougal & Gammer produce good tunes but sometimes their music can be a let down.

not a fan of the recent stuff
much prefer gammer's solo productions, his vocal chop-ups really do it for me ;)
i have to say i haven't really heard the newest dougal&gammer productions (unreleased and things on recent compilations), as i've been avoiding all compilations save a few, which had no d&g tunes.

meh.. their sligtly older stuff was great.. such as dont go away, fires in the sky was amazing..
i dont like most of their stuff now, especially their remix of i say i love you, just crap electro at 175.
an unfortunate direction for such talent.

You don't know what you're talking about, D&G bring new ideas and freshness to hardcore, exactly what it needs. It's most certainly hardcore.

i do !!!
like for example, all their new stuff, a good example is the remix of i say ilove you.. its ****ing electro at 175.. i mean seriously! how is that making hardcore fresh? its just giving people more ideas of changing hardcore. This is how happy hardcore turned to hardcore right?

No you don't... take a listen to the last 5 years of D&G, you can see how their sound progressed to what it is today (liking the new sound or not)... It's new sound elements, I'm sure they don't go into the studio and think lets make a track that sounds like electro house and speed it up. Ideas meld together, sounds meld together, things progress, take a listen to starkillers - Discoteka (D&G remix), it's a top hardcore remix on a track that wasn't orginially hardcore, sounds phat IMO. You might think different, you're entitled to that, but it's certainly hardcore.
