Ok so iv got a friend in America who iv just nudged towards the hardcore scene. He came to me on msn saying he loved Eurotrance or some other europeon music that found its way to america and i asked what he liked about it so much and he said the "Cheese". So i straight away played him a few of the cheesier Happy hardcore tunes, he instantly loved it.

So we got talking and he was asking all questions about raves etc and he loved the idea. How he'd never actually heard of a rave before i dont know lol but anyway what im wondering is, is there any clubs/places/raves or anything hardcore in the Ohio area.....Now i have no idea where that is and since im still on dial up i cant exactly use google earth so just anything in Ohio at all hardcore that i can tell him about so he can experience some sort of rave before he comes on his trip to England to come raving with me lol.

Thanks in advance :)

Lol, there are raves all over the place in the U.S..just not really commercialized. If you want to go to a rave in the U.S, take it from me, go to New York. I live in Jersey, so I know about most of the stuff that goes on in the area.

New York has been holding raves for a while now...even Silver has played there.

I wish there were more places though...and they actually let me in lol.

Toronto's scene is not to be missed, altho far from Ohio

people from Buffalo / Rochester reach there on an almost weekendly basis.

Axiom: if you get the chance to, i'd go to Toronto i were you, based on the fact that you like the NY scene, and a lot of american's from that area appreciate our's enough to make the road trip. it's worth it.

that might not b the case for every city. some cities (even major ones like Houston) have banned raves. altho since they're not big in the media and the whole culture here in the US is considered a little underground they are not taken serious as before. Hell one of the things that helps is facebook and look at ppls favorite styles of music. Hit them up w/ a message and u can talk about the scene and they may b more informed about whether anybody plays it or not. worth a try

it's sad that america only really glorifies there mainstream Guitar and Hip-Hop music.

They are so deprived on good music.... I'll make it clear UK music the best.

But many of the people that follow the hip hop craze and rock, rap, etc, tend to have rude attitudes. Many of the people are snobby, mean, cruel, act like smart asses, etc, so its best that the more forgeign dance music stays underground. Even within the club scene, you find a good amount of rude, snobby people (that goes for any event though, just more in the mainstream). But ya, I would hate to turn on MTV or the radio and see/hear Hardcore music displayed all over it.

Your labeling a blanked (mostly prejudice) view over "hip hop.. rock, rap, etc".
This scene has suffered and is suffering from the media's narrow-minded point of view, lets not do the same.

The rave scene in America is looked at alot more seriously by the government. The government feels they need to take the matter in their own hands and "protect" us from these raves. Theres plenty of material on the net about it but the fact is plenty of people still throw parties but you have to be living in or around a major city to really get into the scene. But since we are so spotted around the USA each scene is unique in its own way and their following.

^^^^ VERY TRUE

Pretty much the only way to throw a party over here without such a high risk of getting busted is to have it as a club event, 21+ with alcohol, security guards, etc.

Back in the mid 1990s there were a few Americans who did stuff along side of UK (moslty Scottish) & Dutch DJs! Gabber was popular in New York but not quite the same hype as in Rotterdam though. DJ Delirium played at a Thunderdome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fI08qcup1JU&feature=related You can see him in this video representing New York City & is very welcome there! He even jumps into the crowd & has the most classic of all '90s haircuts, the undercut!
