Which headphones do you recommend? For good response and can hear very clear in them? Right now I have a cheapy $80 Senheisser HD 205 and I think it's hard to hear the rides and crap in them, dunno does anyone has the same headphones as me? And have problems hearing percussions?

I'm looking abount spending $200-250 (Australia)

Thanks,

Euphory

I have the HD 202s (even cheaper and crappier) and have no probs with high end cymbals - although I tend to use the hats rather than the rides to mix with which are a bit crisper. Never really listened to the rides and I've never used them in a situation where external bleed has been a problem.

The Sonys seem to be the industry standard MDR-V700DJ although I think the Sennheiser HD-25s are used quite widely too. Headphones are always a matter of personal preference though - not just for sound, but also comfort. I don't like the HD-25s due to the way they feel on my ears, but I know someone that swears by them.

So you can beatmatch those hardcore songs with percussion intro''s? And it''s clear/loud for you to hear through your HD 202's using one ear? O_O

I've got a pair of Technics RP-DJ1200 that I've had for nearly 6 years now and wouldn't change for anything. :)

Hmmmmm, looking for some good ones... if it will solve my problem no clue.

But does anyone have the Senheisser 205 or have used them at all? Do you find it really hard to hear the percussions and stuff in them.

Also what the diff between cheapy headphones like $80 and headphones that are around $200? Did any of you's ever had problems with cheapy headphones? If so, what was the problem etc...

Thanks!

Could also be your mixer giving a crap signal mate! Borrow someone elses phones and see if you get the same problem.

Well I usually use both ears using the monitor mix on the mixer - I'll switch to one ear when I'm bringing the tune in. I know, I know, not "the done way".....

I'll second Bulby's comment though, make sure its not your mixer and try out somebody else's phones

yeh, these lol. http://www.decks.co.uk/products/headphones/numark/hf125

came free with my first set up, Numark TT1600's - still use these, really need to get my act together lol. those MK5G's will be mine someday - & DM950 mixer. the only way to describe them would be: i would have been better off without them.

Hmmm I have Pioneer DJM 600 though, so I dunno if it could be that since it a quality mixer. Plus don't know anyone around my area that DJ's only some but they never have the time to come around.

- But if anyone who does own/used Senheisser HD 205, let me know. :P

I use the HDJ1000 from pioneer, some would say they have the tendency to break although i have been rocking mine for about 2 years. Very highly recommended!

@underloop

when i am mixing i never take the headphones of both cans stay firmly over my ears, many people have told me i should but i do it the way that works for me!

@Euphony

i won't argue the DJM600 is a good mixer but the sound quality of it is sh*te (i use to own 1), compare that mixer to another high end mixer ie. allen and heath, rane of even the newer pioneer mixers (909, 800) and you notice a big difference in sound quality

well i use them at home when i cant find my sennys lol, i usually take them with me as a backup if i do a gig though i really hope i never have to use them.

For home use there aint much up with them at all really, turn then up loud though and you will realise why they are cheap!

aye, had mine for a while now too. the only time they broke is when i broke them.
i've got a pioneer DJM600 with my HDJ100s sound quality seems fine, but then considering what i've had to compare it to...
