My M-Audio Delta 1010LT just arrived and I'm wondring how to hook it up. It has more cables coming out of it than a datacenter. How do I hook it up to the following?
Yamaha DX100 keyboard (MIDI in, MIDI out, MIDI thru)
Logitech X-540 speaker system (Center, Middle, Right, Subwoofer)
I imagine I'll need some converters... if so, what kind?

Midi Out on the sound card needs to be hooked up to midi in on the synth, and the left and right audio outputs need to be hooked up to the 2 of the Line inputs (1 and 2 would be an obvious choice :P).
You need to hook up the surround sound system via the digital (S/PDIF) output as far as know, so i hope it has digital inputs for that otherwise you'll need a converter, assuming they exist.
Although it should tell you exactly how to connect the speakers up in the manual, so you can disregard what i've said as it may not be correct anyway.

I read the manual but it didn't give me any clue as to how to hook up my speakers to the card? I have one green, one orange, and one black connectors coming from my X-540 system. How would I hook it up to the sound card?

If that's all it has on it then you need something that converts the digital output on the sound card to analogue connections for surround sound.
The problem is those speakers are consumer range and made for comsumer range sound cards, which have the connections you need in analogue form. The M-Audio card is meant for proffesional use so isn't meant to fit anything but proffesional gear.
Of course though you can just use the left and right (front left and front right) speakers normally without worrying about surround sound, and connect them to a pair of outputs on the sound card, but i seriously doubt you'll settle for just that.

Damn it this is confusing as hell. I've got two million connectors.
I talked to a guy at radioshack. He said that if I wanted to hook the soundcard up to ANY speakers I would have do buy on of those huge amplifiers. He never did answer my question about getting audio to my X-540 speakers...
So am i going to need a $100 amplifier? Also, for the time being, would it work if I just put the soundcard in my computer, and then used headphones only (with the headphones port at the front of the computer)?

Using the headphone port on the computer will definately not work no, because that is the onboard sound card. You need to buy adaptors that convert 2 jack sockets to a single stereo one so you can plug your headphones into that.

The radioshack guy doesn't know as much as I thought he did apparently.
What does this adapter look like?

It's likely he has no idea what he's talking about, very likely.
You need 2 of these: http://www.connectronics.uk.com/RK-J2-J2.jpg (they plug into the 1st and 2nd line output) ...then you need one of these for them to plug into: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?TabID=1&ModuleNo=44080&doy=13m8 ...then one of these for that to plug into: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?TabID=1&ModuleNo=988&doy=13m8 Then you can plug your headphones into that (you'll probably need a 1/4" to 1/8" jack adaptor too unless your using dj type headphones). You shouldn't need to buy all them adaptors, but the sound card isn't meant for use in this way.

Then why do they make professional quality headphones?

That's way too many adapters now that I think about it... it would be a major loss in quality. Isn't there something else?

Sorry, only just opened up this topic.
Firstly, the 1010LT has both digital and analogue. Secondly it isn't jack outputs, its phonos.
I can't remember the specifics of your speakers (and I'm leaving for work in a min so don't have time to google) but I imagine what you need is a dual phono to stereo 3.5mm jack lead, or something to convert from a 3.5mm jack plug to L/R phono plugs.
No, you shouldn't need an amp as the speakers you have are in-built amps - although as Matt says, they are consumer level. In time you may want proper studio monitor speakers, but no need now.
You can use Channels 1-6 to feed your various surround inputs and can set up your surround in the control panel.

I read it. Surprise! I didn't help me. As said before, it's not meant to be hooked up to crappy consumer level speakers, and apparently for some reason it's not meant to be directly hooked up to some headphones...?
Underloop: I imagine I need something like this? http://www.solotechnic.co.uk/stereo-35mm-jack-plug-to-2-x-rca-phono-plugs-silver-link-collection-3m-i23359.html Only problem is that the connector that goes to headphones is male, I would need a female.
