I started listening to the core about a year or two ago and to be honest I like the classics (stuff from 1995 to 2004).

So, if it's "old hardcore" when it's only 2 or 3 years old, does that mean that early 90s Hardcore is ancient?

i personally think that current hardcore is stale and it is just beginning to go full circle again. it takes less effort now adays because of the simple fact is that hardcore has been around for only a little over fifteen years.

you can cover a lot of ground in 15 years.

the music would have to completely change yet again to become interesting enough to explode onto a higher level as far as i'm concerned.

insert flame here.

like most of the years...but my fav would have to be the "ancient" '90 through '95

I think it depends on when you came into the music, that is what your going to remember most/be your favorite.

Disagree there brian musics music at end of the day, i buzz off music that was around way before i got into it/raved etc. A lot of the music i used to rave to like makina/uk hardcore etc i very rarely listen to anymore.

As far as hardcore goes i love the old stuff like early breakbeat, rotterdam style, bouncy techno etc. But nowadays the hardcore techno/hard dnb coming out gets me going as much as ever, because of the nature of the style and the talent of people making it the new production and equipment really takes things further.

It's not a competition though at the end of the day, thankfully i enjoy a lot more than just hardcore music and theres more than enough amazing electronic stuff from the last 20+ years to never get bored.

I like all forms of hardcore. I grew up listening to hardcore around 2002 onwards. I've only recently started to like the older stuff.

Can't stand hardstyle though that shit is boring.

I prefer the older stuff from 95 - 98, but, i can still bounce to the newer stuff. There seemed to be a bit more variety back in the early days.

To be honest I have shit loads of records dating back to 94, but when i play them they just sound dated. The new stuff just sounds way more crisp. But i also think that breakbeat over the years has not lost its flava.

It's all good... I have been into hardcore since the early 90's and I love the evolution it has gone thru. Each generation has it's ups and downs... but I think hardcore is currently at its best!

my tastes have widened. i now like a bit of stuff from 1996, there's still a pinch of breakbeats in there.

I love the newer stuff. The newer the better but I'm only 19 and have only been into it for 4 years. So my old records like flower needs the rain are wayyyyy to cheesy for me. I always loved the energy of the old stuff but couldn't stand the cheesieness. Thats why I love the newer stuff still hard with lots of energy but not as cheesy ie. gangsta by sy & unknown. but like everyone has been saying its a matter of taste. But listening to my oldest quosh records like warped optimism and gonna get ya are friggin awesome. but really i love it all
