Is there many closing down were you live? In Rhyl its getting like one every few weeks! We used to have as a seaside town 58 pubs in Rhyl for a population of 35,000, and they all did OK! I don't go out much nowl because got a family, it cost to much and I smoke! It is getting a bit crazy when so and so says "x pub" has shut down! Its like I remember them all! lol!

I stopped going to the pub when the cost of a pint got ridiculous. £2.50 for ONE pint of lager OR £6 for 8 cans, your own music and no taxi home

My local has just had a complete refurb. Extended the building out the back & converted it to a restaurant. £3.10 a pint now though!!
A few local pub/clubs & the Legion are really struggling & on the verge of having to close. I only go to the pub twice a week now. Much cheaper to keep the fridge topped up.

I'm not seeing too many round Lytham and St.Annes closing down, but they're not as busy as they used to be.
We've just been on the hunt for our Christmas Do venue at work, near Blackburn, and there are some seriously good pubs round there - proper traditional pubs which are pretty packed at lunchtime, serving proper home made food and good ale. Some of the worse ones are struggling, but the good ones are still packed. Natural selection?

The Albion down Ringwood Road in Newtown, Poole has closed, some say it wasn't that good & made no money at all! It must have been around 80 years old so was an ok looking building. I bet they build flats on the site!
Bournemouth has loads of victorian pubs. The Dolphin along Holdenhurst Road, Springbourne seems to be the 'tough man's pub' where there has been trouble at times. The pubs by the Triangle are gay bars. Poole has a few old style ones along the Quay suchs as The Poole Arms, The Jolly Salior & The Quay (Weatherspoons). My uncel told me that in the old days they where though pubs & there would aways be a punch up! These days it is justa few chavs trying to be hard but Poole is usualy safe. There is another Weatherspoons in Poole in what was a Victorian College & Libary building which is popular.
Bournemouth has open it's thrid town centre Weatherspoons called the Mary Shelley which im yet to go it. It used to be Bar Med. There is also a Sir Percy Florence Shelley in Boscombe which is also a 'Spoons.
This year also so a Spoons open in Winton called The Parkstone & Heatherlands. Parkstone is in Poole though & Heatherlands is a nsame for the parish & the name of my first school. Not in Winton at all! Winto also has 'The Famous Old Pines' also just known as Pines which is their main one. There is also 'The Talbot' along Wimbourne Road, Winton's high road. Charminster has Richmond Arms & The Brunswick. Both victorian. The Fiveways is further up Charmister Road and dates to 1925.
My local in Wallisdown is The Kings Arms. We also have a Harverster down the road from us & at the other end of Wallisdown was The Mountbatten Arms which has changed it's name.
Parkstone has 'The Parkstone' which before was The Hogshead. There was a Regent but that closed in 1987 & Safeways opened on the site which then became Morrisons & now Waitrose have moved in. Branskomes has The Branksome Railway Hotel (very victorian & still offers logings) & The Woodman next to Bowlplex. The Sea View is the other end of Parkstone & now doubts you would be able to see over the town towards the sea! Also there is The New Star (replced an old one in the town centre) along Herbert Aveneue & The Tavern along Rossmore Road. The Dorset Knob is along Alder Road.
I could go on naming all the pubs down my way & I have only been in a few lol
How many more will close is known but im sure a few will stay open! The Brasshouse in Bournemouth is a pub by day (serving food as it is also a Spoons) but a club at night!

I been a bar man a few years now and our management were talking about this for a while.
It was expected that it was gonna go like this. 2 main reasons:
1) more and more tax put on booze as its not good for people so tax it to both make money and stop people drinking as much (even though its still dirt cheap from off licences etc...) but bars don't take on the cost, they just bump up prices passing it onto the customers so they stop coming.
2) This is a big thing. With so many chains with MASSIVE amounts of capital coming in and making untold pubs at rock bottom drink prices, they can afford to take on the cost of tax and stay the cheapest. I.e. Aggresive Price Competition meaning the small, family run pubs with not much cash can't afford to keep up and are forced to shut down as companies like J.D. Wetherspoons and Mitchell & Butler come and steal all the profits.
Won't be long til they are all thats left and there will be no nice little homely pubs, just all corporate crap with no soul.
There ya go.
*EDIT*
oh and TypeR, to ID someone is to ask them for identification to prove they are old enough to purchase alcohol. and yes, wilky can be rather the twat, don't worry about it, you're not the only one that thinks it.
