so wiki states that only ONLY thing stopping the movie from being a promotion video for the christian faith...is the last 2 minutes of the film...

thats weak.

"While the film could be accused of promoting the Christian faith, the conclusion of the film, in which Christianity is co-opted by the Federation and God made a "citizen", plays for satire, in addition to providing commentary on the countless political regimes that have used faith as a recruitment tool throughout history."

because making god a citizen is perhaps - the ONLY part of the entire movie where they did a good job of being satirical with religion...the rest - still over the top.

quoting wiki is as bad as me quoting imdb :P

I've found in the past that IMDB is usually pretty on the money.

Except.

Its rated, from experience, VERY harshly. Ive only ever seen a few films go above an 8.5, so anything above a 7 is generally a pretty good film.

Although ive found in the past that i enjoyed films ranked as low as 5's. So take it with a grain of salt, but if it has a high rating, you're about to watch a very good film.

*EDIT** just realised the rankings on IMDB didn't really have anything to do with the discussion. My bad.

IMDB rating is like flipping a coin for me. The 'Top 200' -list there makes me yawn. Still use the site though

The illusionist
the prestige
and the usual suspects

all fantastic films ive seen recently. The usual suspects is maybe one of the best films i've ever seen in my life. It's very good. I recommend that everybody sees it.

I think it'd pretty obvious i like films with big twists hahaha

Have you seen the village? I thought that was a fantastic film also, even though a lot of people didn't like it - i thought it was very clever.

Although the matrix trilogy had the biggest twist out of any film series ive ever seen. After how good the first one was - i didnt think the second and third would suck to wrap up to a sucky ending - didn't see that one coming!

Ooh, don't get me started, I'll be on the subject for hours! xD
In Bruges would be my recent fave, where two murderers kill a little boy and a priest by accident in London, and flee to Bruges on their boss' recommendation. When they arrive, the boss (Ralph Fiennes) contracts one of them to kill the other...

I concur. The Usual Suspects is probably my favourite film of all time, absolutely love it!

I thought In Bruges was fantastic also. Although i know some people who thought it was really slow, i didn't feel that way. I thought it was a great film. Colin Farrell/Ferrell? was amazing in it.

Dark Knight - Amazing, must see. Christian Bale is my man crush, I want to stick my penis in his pooper.

Quantum of Solace - Good movie, enjoyable. I prefer the new style bonds to the older shitter ones.

Saw V - OK, worst of the bunch so far though.

Doomsday - Absolutely hated it. Just a blatant rip off of about 6-7 films.

Mutant Chronicles - Pretty poor.

Iron Man - Suprisingly good

Hancock - Pretty good

I Am Legend - A joke of a film that missed the entire point of the book and cockslapped Richard Matheson's old wrinkly face. The book ending was when the creatures broke into his basement they released the one he had prison and was conducting experiments on and left. Leaving the human to come to the haunting conclusion that through his fear of the unkown he became paranoid creating an enemy when there wasn't one and infact he was the legend of their horror stories, not the other way round. Thus the title "I Am Legend". Instead this is Hollywood and they pissed all over the good twist and in the process the title then made no sense.

Had a DVD release for like 3 months lol

I found it boring, mate thought it was OK. Watchable but certainly not a good film.
