No Trance and Hardcore are totally different scenes. Trance scene is alot more conservative than Hardcore. Trance scene does'nt like mcs or live female dancers either.
Trance is more about a journey. While Hardcore is more about the energy and the rush you get. At the moment UK hardcore would have a lot more in common with NRG I would think. If Hardcore ever died, it would be NRG that a lot of producers would flock towards. Hixxy, SY, Re-Con, Styles etc all produce NRG versions of their hardcore tracks.

I'm shocked to hear such a comparison.
The whole trancy hardcore arguement is pointless, considering that it may sound a touch like trance with a higher BPM, it's completely different technically in regards to structure and not to mention sound and the difference in the people that listen to it.
"is trance the new happy hardcore" is a bit of a redundant question to make. even tho happy hardcore NOW is rather different from the past it's still regarded as the same genre, simply because you'd look a right pratt going about calling trance happy hardcore. and i dont really need to explain why i hope :)
the question doubles up as well - it could mean: 'is trance today becoming what happy hardcore was' or 'Has Happy hardcore changed so much that it's sounding more like trance than hardcore'
i'm not massively read up on hardcore knowledge - so that could just void this post completely like.
some good examples of trance recently - and how its NOTHING like hardcore can be seen with these:
quote:Gabbatrance is a mixture of hardcore beats and trancey sounds & rythem patterns. This formula has been created, developed, refined and eventually vinylized by one of the founders of the first and moost succesful DJ-team ever, being... The Dreamteam's DJ Buzz Fuzz. Keep This Frequency Clear... OK?!
This EP was from 1997.
I have heard a number of Gabber (or 'Gabba' as it seems) tracks with a Trance edge from the 90s...
Yesterday while I was walking into town I was listening to a new mix I downloaded. After the original version of DJ Isaac- Bad Dreams (everyone always plays the remix) something happened! A track came in with a Trance like build. At first I thought it would be a modern Upfront Hardcore track but it turned out to be Gabber! This track had a real vibe to it, some nice vocals! Can’t describe it! I later hunted this track down & found it out to be Cixx- To Da Bass (Original Mix) from 1996 (off a label called Dead Fly Cuts. I had never heard this track before so guessing it could be rare? Needless to say it was beautiful and I felt blessed listening to it!
Now this tune sounds very very ahead of itself to me! It sounds alot like some of today's Hardcore so was suprised at how old it was! It has got me thinking Is this how Hardcore should really sound?
Forget the watered town basslines & soft kicks, this tune did have a hard (but not over the top) kick which most (but not all) modern Hardcore lacks! You know it is Hardcore when listening to it! While alot of people think that Trance is the 'New' Happy hardcore I think that is debatable. Trancecore came out long before 1997 (Jones & Stepenson- The First Rebirth from 1993 being one example) & it seems most artists only make this style because 'the scene must move forwards' when really, all they are doing is going sideways!
Anyway as for the track itself; here it is! Cixx- To da Bass:
A track that is ten years ahead of it's time & yet almost forgotten! If only all new Hardcore was like this!

Thankyou smoogie, that was a very well thought out answer.
Fancy finding something out like that by accident, in a record shop.
Actually I ordered the Gabbatrance EP over discogs! I like 'No good for me' on there. Another good track is called 'The Gabbatrance Experince from about 1996!
What does ervyone think of the tune btw? Can't get enough of it!

I think that trance is not happy, so i can't find a link between Happy Hardcore and trance, also i think that Trance is called in this way because it makes you feel like in a state of trance, so the hard sounds of hardcore can't give the same feeling
