not to mention they don't exactly do their dj gigs for free either. do a couple of those a week and you're in pretty good shape. yeah the music may not pay the bills but some people seem to forget that these guys are also globetrotting top tier djs as well.

Only? That's not very much IMO, and I very much doubt that. Surely it's over 500 pounds a set, otherwise he's charging less than many smaller names.

That's my point, that's not alot. I've booked alot of big UK Hardcore names and most charge more than that. And I've never had a DJ charge an hourly rate.
