i play old makina all the time out in seattle. the production quality is crisp and the bass is nuts. don't go off of youtube to make an assumption to quality.
that would be like looking at what you find in the toilet to judge the quality of your food.

Well, like I said, I have a lot of makina records, and play makina at raves every once in a while cause I find mixing it fun (esp on 3-4 decks). I like the music as an occasional thing, but I have ALOT of makina records and it's pretty clear that the quality of the production is pretty weak compared to other styles of hardcore. The best engineered stuff is probably the Ruboy tracks and they don't come close to a sayyyyy...CLSM track, production wise.
There can be good stuff musically though. My favourite track is "DJ Pildo - The dream is just in my mind".

do you music really need to be good, production wize, to be awesome? ;)
As people have already pointed out, each to their own, no matter how much effort has been made into producing a track.
I think Im like TypeR, I prefer the older makina, even tho some of the later bitmusic releases are good too

I know what Makina is, i actually have a couple of records... It's safe to say that the production is realtively bad, even compared to oldschool Happy Hardcore. How can you say that the production quality of old Makina is crisp if you're not even a producer? Not bagging it or anything, it's awesome music i really like it, and i dont really give a shit that the production isnt that good. But im just proving a point that the production is pretty below standard especially and mostly some of the old stuff..

No need to try to make me look like an idiot, because i do know what im talking about..

This.
Been listening a lot of Naturatech's tunes lately, and its pissing all over most mainstream Hardcore. It doesnt have to be good production wise. Often it makes it even worse, it makes it boring.

Pastis & Buenri - Start
One of the best uplifts I have ever heard (I play it faster in my mixes for increased power). This song is what got me into makina and hardcore back in 1999.

Also, take into account that most makina songs are made to be mixed on top with other tunes (mostly bases or gabber) hence you cannot solely judge the quality of makina overall from listening to one of its components.
In fact, makina allows the dj to express himself and be creative, something lacking in the UK Hardcore scene from a dj-ing perspective.

does it really matter how much production has gone into making a track? as a crappy bedroom producer, i like to analyse tracks, but just because it has a lot of technical ability in the proudction doesnt mean its good or better than something else that is simple to make. often the simple stuff is the best
