I'm hoping someone can help me with this... and no I don't mean give me the answer, show me how to figure it out...

quote:
A flowerpot dropped from a window and fell for 3.3 seconds to the ground. How high was the window?
A - 16 meters
B - 32 meters
C - 50 meters
D - 100 meters
E - 2.1 meters

The book provides a formula but for some reason it's not working for me.

Wouldnt you have to know the weight of the flowerpot?

Use the suvat equations you should know..

remember that a=9.81 (gravity)
and if t=3.3 then you should know which one to use..

EASY!

edit.. if you havnt done the suvat equations then the one you need is s=1/2 at^2

No, this is a different question.

When acceleration is constant, it is equal to the average acceleration, so equation 2-5 applies. Then the increase in speed is just at. To get the final speed, just add this to the initial speed:
vf=vi+at

While the object is speeding up, it's average speed is just the average of the initial and final speeds. Equation 2-1 tells us we get the distance traveled by multiplying the average speed by the time:
s=(vi+vf/2)t

Now we get a useful equation by substituting into this equation the value of vf from equation 2-7a:
s=vit+1/2at^2

The first term is the distance that would be traveled at the original speed; the second term is the additional distance due to the acceleration.
Combining these equations produces another useful form, related the speeds to the acceleration and distance:
vf^2=vi^2+2as

EDIT:

I'm homeschooled. All my mom said was that the tutors around here cost an arm and a leg. She did find one guy once who was apparently cheap and good but before she actually hired him he got arrested for fondling some girls in a park.

do u do any extra curricular activities with the school you're supposed 2 b zoned with? i sure do hope so. i have run in2 a good # of homeschooled kids that have absolutely no socializing abilities with real ppl b/c their parents deprived them of having any type of social experience as a kid with other kids.

but there are those who are homeschooled but play sports and whatnot with the kids from their zoned school. and they turn out to be pretty cool ppl. now i understand y u didn't kno any girls that had decent voices

I hate having to be social, in real life anyway. Probably because I have aspergers but whatever.

Bear in mind I CAN be social, and I'm "ok" at it, but I only really do it with family or other people when I have to.
