Would someone be kind enough to give a good definition of what makes a tune freeform?
I previously thought it just had to do with the structure of the song but apparently I was wrong.

darker hardcore is a nice broad way of defining freeform, some of it does have vocals ("power in the light" for instance) most of the stuff off the nu energy main label - that will give you a fairly good idea of what freeform is, from the synths/speed/feel
listening to Sharkeys mixes on bonkers 3 and upwards or Kevin Energy's on the new installments of the Hardcore Heaven Series..would you like some examples?

uk hardcore is normally 4x4 kick off beat bassline
I'd say that a freeform tune is governed by no such restrictions, you'll notice that it chops & changes in style throughout the track, for eg dnb sections, gabber kicks, flowing basslines
henst the name freeform meaning your free to form the track with any style not just sticking to the 4x4 n off beat bass

What?
Why did you even bother replying?

I thought in the days of Bonkers 3 it was Trancecore which then evolved into Freeform?

use of gabberish kicks, less melody and more acid secuences, hoover like synths, melancholic but uplifting melodies...
I think the must important thing is the acid and the hoover, which personally annoys me, and its the reason i dont like many freeform tracks, if I wanted acid I would listen psy or goa trance
edit: trancecore was cool, I dont know what happened, freeform appeared and ruin it!

Basically a hardcore track that doesn't use a 4X4 kick, in short

There are multiple freeform tracks that have a 4x4 kick in them, just not in the entire track.
