that should rekindle your love for hardcore
Lets hope to god you're right. I love hardcore as much as the next guy, but so many of the tracks coming out as of late just have this lackluster feeling to them and it's making me become disillusioned. It all sounds so samey sometimes, and STOP WITH THE VOCALS AND CHEESE, JESUS...

I am creative. Very creative. But it gets harder and harder to find tricks and stuff. And it's also the tracks, as I said. It's not fun mixing songs you don't like.
I wasn't talking about new Drum & Bass, but more about Oldskool stuff.
… which you can mix into tracks around 120 BPM from other music genres.
Fair play, but i was talking about upfront music though, rules and regulations regarding genres back then were a bit more blurred.
Dont listen to speedcore? Who can blame you pal, awful stuff. I know what you mean about the music though i very rarely buy hardcore records now, just the odd stand out tune.
Didnt mean you personally wernt creative with your mixes (dont think ive heard one tbh so couldnt say), but i love hearing sets that incorparate everything. Like Kutski's 21 minutes to know mix. Ranged from Hardcore-Gabber-80's Synth-pop- Motown-Pop, ****ing everything, that was probably the best mix ive ever heard.
Mixing is a pretty boring task at times, its the DJs job to keep it interesting, no?
EDIT
Just seen tru_bass beat me to it with the Kutski mix.
Give us a few minutes and ill upload it for anyone who wants it.

And that's why I think Hardcore is boring to mix. Trance is even more boring, what can you do with trance ? Nothing actually because it's quite basic music. But it's always nice to change a bit. I think atm Drum & Bass is the most interesting genre to mix for me.
And yeah I might do a mix soon, which I will upload. Haven't posted any mixes yet :S

I'm DLing Kutski's mix, thx for the link ;)
You can try key mixing with trance (and with liquid d&b). With trance its all about making the mix flow as seemlessly as possible, with hardcore thats not always so important. Well in most mixes ive heard at least.

Name a D&B tune set at 120bpm please.
TRUE DNB! at least the chorus! but I guess even that is a bit higher then 120
This tune is kind of happy DnB I guess, at least it's awesome
And yeah I realised there aren't that many good HC tunes being released right now. I was ordering some new vinyl to expand my collection, and I listened through loads of clips, ended up only buying 5 records that had one or more good tunes on them. There might suddently be released plenty of massive tracks towards summer though, we'll just have to wait and see :P

I just finished mixing some old 90's cheeze for an hour and that felt good :D I don't mix that part of my collection so often anymore, but every time I do I have a blast! I think you always get used to mixing any style too often, and it's like once you're too confortable with it, it looses some of the fun.

It's extremely easy to mix between different genres if you have skill. House to Gabber? Just do it. It's not hard. Experiment and you will get better. My friend and I do this sort of thing when we DJ raves at our school - people want a variety, not just hardcore. They want to hear Sandstorm, but they want to hear Children too, and they want to hear Pretty Rave Girl. Using sick mixing, drop beat matching, and sampling, it's not as hard as it sounds.
