You still forget that PCs can be built cheaper, and stronger then Macs. Customization > Getting one thing, and one thing only, from a monopolistic company that tries to release everything for you.
Lol, I'm so Biased.

Search for toughbook's, probably the toughest build. But on the down side their a lot heavier/bigger and a lot more expensive then your regular laptop (so most likely not what you were looking). Usually the shell should be magnesium (which i think the macbook is using?) for it to handle rough use. Anyway you can find a non Mac using some sort of metal from Sony's Vaio product line. Just like in Mac's, in those a big portion of the price is for design too.

At uni, if i walk into the software engineering school, i will find that about 50% use macs, 45% use linux and the rest use whatever else there is? why? because they are so much easier to work with at the base level. Its not irrational prejudice that these OS are much more popular (around the nerds). sure, many have the ability to duel boot with windows, but because they are nerds they also like playing counter-strike.
For their needs, windows doesnt make par

I have never met a nerd that used Mac. Linux? Many, Windows? even more, but never a mac user :p And if you go check which operating system has the most free software (or open source), you'll know what the nerds prefer :p Though Mac (afaik) has upped its marked share a lot in the past years, so the tide might change in the future as more people use mac.

Nope, not an engineer (if you dont count combat engineer )
If Mac's are great, can someone point me an webcam that doesnt cost 100e and goes to Mac Os 10.4? I can find ones for windows for 20e, but Mac? nope, nothing. Logitech has one model that costs over 100e. That is one of the things i hate Apple for. They have zero support for old hardware/software. They expect people to buy a new computer just because they might need a USB 2.0 port or a webcam.
...and that was a serious question, my little sister needs one for her iMac (she loves the design so much that she uses it despite all the faults it has).
