Hixxy - "R U Ready" reminds me of old Hixxy stuff, I kind of like it.

darwins remix of 'todays the day' sounds soo freaking good.. i mean... wow!

the scooter remixes are so so.. but I expected it, really...

building shaker vip sounds the same as the original..

s3rl sounds amazing! loving dealer! its my shopping list in a song!

jump 2 da groove sounds really nice, but does sound a bit like a revamped version of the original, difficult to tell given the clip.

Liking most stuff on there, 'we're getting faster' sounds nice, just as darwin often does. again with 'let me be your fantasy'. a unique diverse taste added to the mix.

Wicked MC 2009 sounds a bit strange to me, heh heh, but im sure ill love it like the original.

Oh allow me to point out, sharkey has employed decent mixing!! contrasted to aatw's clubland mixing where only a reverb kick sperates each song..

-

im amazed at hixxys 'the theme' remix! ive never heard it before! wow! (joking, ive heard it many times :)) - something that confuses me, why isnt jurgen vries credited in the song titling?

flip & fill - discoland is probably the most crap song ive heard so far.. what the hells it doing on this album?!?! and its donkeys years old!

sy & unknown - hardcore sounds good! they know how to make a true hardcore track every now and again like the older days :)

pilgrims still got the magic touch, though's a bit old to be on here.. however, it's quality in the clip makes it sounds like a 2009 track, quite amazing.

e-type rain must be like 160bpm...

d&g - guitar hero is absolutely amazing. like OMG. shame about what it mixes into..

and oh lord... 'take me to the clouds above'.. dreadful... the vocals arent exactly good quality either..

'welcome to the trip' is a unique attempt at hardcore, but the track just hasnt got the oomph behind it to make it a decent track compared to other material you have on there. it goes to show how poorly re-con and chris fair in the wrong genre. they're good in their respective fields.. but w.t.t.t lets them down...

from what i hear, also, unknown reverts back into the 2 second mix approach for the mixes.

--

those ARE SOME OF MY HONEST (un-caps, sorry) oppinions..

im still kinda enthusiastic, i guess..

only listened 2 some of the clips but some sound pretty grim, like pacman and even darwins remix of let me be your fantasy was pretty bad intill the piano came in at the end of the clip, the u2 remix was actually okay(and i only listened 2 it for a laugh lol)

CD1 - its ok, i thought it would be alright, but of course there's those bloody Scooter tunes so just no. Nothing much to say about it though, no track really stands out to me so even if it didnt have the Scooter tunes on its still not all that great...... imo of course. Last track is a bit ironic init? Freeform will never die? Where's the freefrom in that one lol.

CD2 - 1st track sums this cd up dont it? Awful. The only saving grace i could see looking at the tracklist is Guitar Hero (****ing tune) but that in no way counteracts the level of shit on the CD. It was good to get to Guitar hero actually just to have a break from all the vocal tripe. i counted 13 out of 18 cheesy, vocal tracks (including that god awful affair with storm). So over two thirds, thats not good.

CD3 - Deja vu anyone? I know its supposed to be a sort of classics mix but theyre not even classics so it fails on two levels. 1) Old tracks on a new compilation. 2) old tracks in the vain that theyre classics, yet they arent. I mean he used the Darren Styles mix of Free Your Mind ffs. Probably the most effortless mix Hixxy's thrown together.

Happy to see some deserving names on here who'll benefit from appearing on such a big compilation, congrats to them. But 17 quid for ONE - not even that good - CD? no ta.

@acid:
how do you know anything bout the mixing man? Cant really tell from the clips.

EDIT

Hixxy's mix can actually hear a bit of mixing allbeit not that great.

a couple of the clips from sharkeys disc have good mixing. In 'here we go', theres plenty of scooter mcing prior to the track changing.

also, you can hear in unknowns cd's how the music will kinda have the up-sweep and the typical end-of-the-song and the beginning of the next...

It is a commercial album release though so the emphasis is going to be on the tunes as apose to the mixing, and all the mixing will be done on computer software anyway so i wouldnt expect complex and exciteing mixing, probably not even from Sharkey's CD. Not having another dig at AATW here, im pretty sure that its common practice these days.

well its not really forcing, he could have just said "no" and walked away from it

but what he said pretty much summed up what i was thinking about this whole thing

"Bonkers has been known for sorta having that underground edge....and we cant keep pushing the underground edge AND get the support from a major record company"

i want to know what happened where they cut it.. straight after he said that at 5:10, and hixxyand that guy are laughing and he's backing away from hixxy lol...and it cuts to "and on that note"
