I just had my first live experience with a hardcore MC last night at etd.POP. I've heard them on recorded mixes and videos, and I already hated them. But in person, live, it is the worst experience ever. My friends and I left the room because we could not stand the onslaught of nonsense spewing from the microphone and mashing in with the music. It's just terrible, and I think Hardcore MCs should stop being supported. They can't sing in key, they have no flow, and the frequency they typically sing at happens to be just about the same as most hardcore basslines so everything mashes together and you can't understand a sylllable of what they're saying.

What mc's did you see? They aren't all the exact same, maybe you should see some other mc's?

If I held an event I'd only book Eminem as an MC....

well no wonder you hated it! MC storm is the biggest shit in MC lineups right now, and that's me being nice and holding back.
i haven't liked him for awhile he is so obnoxious! and MC Casper was also in that lineup. I personally don't like MCs from what i've heard in albums (true hardcore) and videos of events. never been to an event that i recall with MCs. if anything, the DJ should be the one to be the MC, throwing a little something out there every now and then. If a DJ truly needs an MC to hype up a crowd, then there is something wrong with their mixing. I see using an MC more of as a disguise for talentless mixing.
God I hope that Brisk doesn't have one at Future Fest in Austin coming up. haven't been to a rave in 9 years, and i would hate for me to have a bad experience because the damn MC won't stfu
and eminem??? hell no keep him where he is

This coming from the guy that likes S3rl.
Cmon dude. I actually was annoyed with MC Storm for a while but if you actually try and get into it you can have a good time.
Storm actually pumped me up pretty nicely last night.
Also Casper is a great MC and knows when to shutup.
(I was at the same show as Jackol last night)

I was there over the weekend as well. For a while the MCs weren't too bad and you got into the flow of things, but after a while it got annoying. I walked out of Hixxy, Brisk and Re-Con halfway through each of there time slots simply because Storm and Casper would not shut up for the entire hour and 15. I couldn't hear much more than the MCs and the bass pumping out of those 2 speaker walls(those were great btw).

it does seem like a risky waste of money employing live mc's...i think actual mc'ed songs like 'final goodbye' are good, but live ones do tend to ruin the set..

yes i forgot to mention that this type of MCing i have nothing against. if it's already part of the song, it's ok, like Jump Pump by hixxy and MC storm. that 1 is a favorite of mine. o and let's not forget Everywhere I turn! it's a f**king epic song and MC Enemy did an amazing job on it!

first off, as an MC i actually think most other hardcore MC's are garbage. This is the biggest problem with MCing for me - that for most MC's everything said on here is preatty much true. makes it really hard to find anyone whos even open to hearing you. However, and im not sure i'll get much back up on here but, Storm is ridiculas good as an MC, that is MASTER of CERAMONIES. His rhymes? not the best, his flow? not even close, does he talk too much? most deffinetly, does the crowd on the whole go ****in bannanas and scream back every word? you bet your ass. his hype up skills are second to none imo and the DJ's certenly dont NEED him (i always say a DJ can play all night without an MC but an MC is nothing without his DJ AND a crowd) but sets with a proper MC can add a great deal to the vibe of the set or the entire night. Should there be an MC for every set? God no! only one or two a night during the peak of the party is best, no one wants to hear an MC at 10, or 4 in the morning.
the other problem is, that even MC's with good flow and good rhymes have to cut there teeth live somewhere, and if they dont have support it turns south very quickly. MC's need to be given more of a chance
btw i DJ as well for what its worth so i dont feel im that biased. there are plenty of good MC's out there, just a lot of crappy ones as well...

this is a good idea, kinda like old skool hip hop DJ's. i have thought of this before and am planning to do it in the future.
oh, and i dont sing because i cannot sing...if you sing arnt you called a singer not an MC?

There's nothing like some white british guy shouting over some good rave music. It's a part of the live experience of hardcore. <3 :)

I don't mind MC's at all provided they don't MC over vocals and don't over do it it.

I know Canadians don't have a problem with them. They never failed to be included in the lineup when Hullabaloo in Toronto was still around. Although none of them were as excessive and overwhelming as MC Storm, there were some that were pretty close
