It's pissing me off now. What a waste of 8 hours. Gonna try Hijackthis now.

do you know how to screen cap/screen print?

if so take on of your "msconfig" services after you ticked the "hide all Microsoft services" may take 2 of them, but it will help
and make sure we can see the names of them

note: all installed/updated data reaching back to the point where to you will recover will be lost.

sometimes the "bad.exe" could just get shut down for one boot up as you said, but it has put itself into "player.exe" and he opens the "player.exe" so when he does that then it puts "bad.exe" back into play, so he would have to clean "player.exe" before he could use it, or the "bad.exe" will take back over, and then he would be back were he was....

Well for me that would trigger my antivirus software and prevent it doing that, or notify me about it (if its not obvious) and i can manually block it as far as i can remember. Which as far as i know isnt the case.

Spoox you need to restart windows if you change the startup list, to be able to see the effect.
Edit: quick google and stsystra.exe is Sigmatel Audio's file. Nonessential, but harmless.

if you dont know what your doing dont do it =b

Well that depends compleatly on what infected the computer. It doesnt remove it, but in many cases it gets rid of the problem. You can clean up you registry with regcleaner. But wouldnt recommend that program to many, as you can pretty much nuke your whole computer with that program and it never asks "are you sure you want to do this" :P

http://www.ccleaner.com/ <-- betta then regcleaner :) shud work same way

Havent used free security software in years, but last time i installed the OS i added Comodo internet Security, before that Kerio FW (with avg) was the best. Last time i used ZoneAlarm the odd 5 years ago, it was compleatly shit. Still hear bad news about it every now and then. Back then it updated itself and then compleatly ****ed my computer. Wouldnt recommend to anyone.

As far as i can remember, you need to manually update it -> not good for your mother if shes not a person that does things manually. Could be its changed since ive used it though.
