Oh and an up and coming room is actually reinforcing the problem.

You just made my point so easy to prove.
You say the new up and comers need a chance YET you download their music illegally!?!? What the ****? You just made this thread and your ideals look like a complete joke. You think Darren Styles is holding back the newcomers because he makes solid music? Wrong - you are the one holding them back because you can't spare them the money they deserve, just like the other thousand people just like you who pretend they buy music and support the newcomers yet download 95% of the dance music they own.

I can understand with HU2 but Hardcore Underground 1 is still available to buy from shops.....

hmm, I'm split on whether artists whoa re supposedly new are actually new..
I see some names over and over from various gigs and on some albums, but they are still reasonably new and fresh.
if it were darwin, brisk & ham, etc mixing stuff or producing, then yes, same old same old.
and the HU4 and COH 4 projects did post on here asking for submissions, allowing for unheard of talent.

I dont think people who download their music illegally have any room to complain as they are not forking out the money in the first place.

If you're not supporting hardcore artists by buying the tracks or the CD's then you can't complain about the music on it. If you think it good enough to steal then it's good enough to pay for, you can't complain the food tastes bad if you steal it from a store. If you don't think it's good enough to pay for then don't listen to it...

You can't compare Darwin to Brisk and Ham, Brisk and Ham have been in the scene about 10 years longer (if you consider Darwin came in the scene after 2003 or something, i don't really remember). Darwin IS fresh talent in the sense that he is pushing the Hardcore forward in the correct direction where no one else has yet. He is exactly what is needed and the reason there is actually any good Hardcore at all. Him and CDJay and Luna C are pretty single handedly keeping the only good Hardcore there is alive. Why would you want to get rid of the few people actualy making quality Hardcore for the sake of having a whole line up of people no one has ever heard. It's not really about how new they are, it's wether they are creating a fresh sound or not and in that case it dosn't matter how established the artists are, the fact they are keeping the scene alive does (as oppose to killing it with Trance rubbish).
Luna C is a perfect example of that, he's been in the scene right from the start but he is one of a very short list of people actually trying to make quality Hardcore and otherwise revolutionise the scene, and is absolutely invaluable; but he isn't new talent by any means.
In any case i don't really beleive the big names are stopping anyone from getting known in the scene, at the end of the day good music is good music, you don't buy it because it has a certain persons name on it. So anyone who actually wants to make themselves known can do if they put in the right effort in. It's just that people want to make money from the scene and yes the big names probably do effect that alot because all the money is with the top tier, but if that's their reason for producing then their music is not wanted anyway, and tough shit to them for having such a bad motivation for making music.

There are PLENTY of oppourtunities for up and comers to get there stuff out there.
Equally how do you think the big guys became big? They were once small, put in time and effort, start meaningful projects etc... It's not something that you can really make a living off in most cases no.. but there is a lot of oppourtunity to get heard, really there is a lot of people saying 'we need a new direction!' but these are just words, it requires movement.
Wilky I agree in some cases there are parties where promoters need a more open mind sometimes, down here in Australia I think its quite good, lots of people have an oppourtunity to play at all sorts of places. But really I cant speak for the UK... If you don't like the lineup why don't you run your own parties and invest your time and money into it?
In addition I think this comment is a little rich "lets show these over hyped camel smokers that we're sick of havin the piss taken out of us.."
