But I also have to agree on what danjel says. Compared to what imodownload, junodownload, hardbeatstore and serioussounds take, it's quite alot more than what itunes takes (and most of that money barely goes to artists). So either these stores just take to much paid, or hardcore artists have a big ego :P
I've mostly only seen label stores (like ufo and seduction's) taking £2 for a tune.
Like Starstruck said, if it's really a good track, most people would still buy it, as long as the quality is up to par. Personally, nowadays I'd only buy a WAV for over £2, not a MP3
Well, back when i used to filshare. Which was just as i got into hardcore and was learning to mix etc. I did it because i had no other way of obtaining them.
Only live here with my mother, and she doesn't even know how to turn a computer on. So you can imagine how hesitant she would be about buying something with her credit card online...
Although i do now buy most of my tracks. The odd one or two that hasn't been released or something i will be honest i do download. Atleast im being honest about it, other people download every track and sit there saying they "Support the artists" its bulshit.

I'm prepared to pay those prices because I love hardcore. Usually, only the stuff on smaller or underground labels is that expensive and I like to support them. I never buy from big labels in any of the genres that I listen to because I don't like how they treat artists and customers.

I used to sell a 320kbps for 2 pounds and they actually did sell a hell of alot still.. but i've since lowered the price to 1.50 ..
I honestly dont think fileshares fileshare because they cant afford an mp3, i think they do it because they're lazy and don't care about the work labels/producers put in.
Any decent supporter of a relatively underground scene would happily pay 1.50 or 2 pounds for a good track that's being made in love for the music and scene..
I have nothing wrong with spending 2 pounds on an mp3, providing its priced according to quality though. And anyway, alot of distribution companies take a large some of the gross profit anyway.. some take 50 percent, which leaves you with 1 pound. and if the deal witht he producer is to pay him via. 50/50 revenues, then you pay him half a pound. So when you think about it, the producers only really receive half a pound going by this example. So is it too much to ask for??
But i understand what you mean.. i'd only buy something 2 pounds if it were worth it.. i bought a bunch of tracks on serious sounds the other day, expensive, but worth it!!
Cool, didn't know about the Serious Sounds site!
320k is a very good quality but £2 seems a bit steep for one mp3 tune. Would be happier paying between 1 - 1.50 but if it's a tune I really want I'll pay extra.

doing a quick statistic here. Just going to list stores that generally sells Hardcore.
Most Prices are only based on much of the later releases on each store. Some of them might still have a lower prices on older mp3s, or even higher.
All prices EXCLUDING VAT tax (especially HBS adds this)
IMODownload
320kb MP3 / ~£1.49 (some was as low as £0.80)
192kb MP3 / ~£0.99 (some was as low as £0.70)
HardBeatStore/NuEnergy
320kb MP3 / £0.99 or ~£1.49 per track
Digital 'EPs' / £1.79 to £2.99 depeding on label/date/tracks
CD Singles / £3.50 to £3.99
TrackItDown
320kb MP3 / £1.49
WAV / £1.75
Junodownload
192kb MP3 / usually £0.99
320kb MP3 / £1.29 to £1.99
EDIT, forgot the WAVs, but their generally at £1.49 to ~£2.50
Discounts for buying complete releases/albums... except for QUOSH094 it seems, it costs £0.01 more to buy it complete than buying the 2 tracks seperate :P
Serious Sounds
320kb MP3 / ~£1.99
Beatport
320kb MP3 / €1.56
And no discounts for full releases...

I agree, SS is very expensive, but I've found tunes there that I couldn't buy anywhere else.
