dont really know how to put this, i work on a computer most of my working life, and im on it a fair bit at home, ...
still trying to work out how to phrase this.

when scratching and ive been "scratching" going on 6-7 years..and up until recently everythign has been fine - but my fingers on my right hand are, what i can only describe as...going stiff?...im finding i cant do one of the "moves" i used to be able to do, and im having to twist my hand so its at right angles to the deck in order to actually do it - and it doesnt seem to sound as good...clearly im going to have to "re-learn" to do it but holding my hand in a different, more difficult position. its my index and middle finger on my right hand, the two i would have on the mouse as well.

anyway going back to the computer thing - im 1000000000% this is all down to the fact that i use a mouse at work constantly, and my hand is on it constantly

anyway, im only 24, this is just depressing and very very very annoying, ive wanted to throw vinyl across the room several times (anybody want a smashed copy of "this is for the DJ Vol 6?)
anybody else had this..muscle fatigue? RSI?...what the hell, i mean how would i even explain this two a doctor..anybody know what i should be doing? better solutions than a mouse? i refuse to believe ive got some sort of wierd Arthritis thing..theres no pain, and my fingers work normally else where..its just like those two fingers have lost their spring?...maybe i should be "working them out"..but maybe that would make it worse.

Do you think it's actually an injury caused by scratching too much though?

sounds like either rsi or you could be getting the start of arthritis

I know a couple turntablists that have gotten arthritis from djing and have difficulty moving the crossfader so they have had to switch hands...but they have pain in their hands now, don't know what it was like for them when it started

I've yet to have problems with my fingers, and I am on my computer about 12 hours a day, sometimes more.

well thankyou for all the comments
the wife thinks i should see a doctor too - but im not in any pain at all, there isnt even a dull pain in the two fingers...they just seem to have lost their elasticity!

i dont think its from scratching, i think its from using a mouse constantly, because those two fingers on my right hand are constantly in that position and just doing very small movements when it comes to clicking the mouse..
i think im going to see a doctor. i just dont think he/she is going to take me too seriously as im not in any pain..

I'd say its from the scratching. Sittin with your hand resting on a mouse is nothing like the strain u put on your hand when scratching.

Like people have already said, theres a lot of big turntablists that had to give up on what they do for a living because of it. Its a fact that scratchin beats the s**t out your fingers. I would consider calming down with the scratchin for a while & yeah, let your doctor know

well, i just thought i would give everyone an update, as im sure you've all be loosing sleep, crying in slient moments and generally feeling depressed about my newfound dis-ability

i have found that when scratching i can turn my hand 90ish degrees to the platter and acheive much the same effect but it seems to require a little more control ..but at the same time is enabling me to reach new speeds i never thought possible
and i dare say ive actually improved a little, plus moving my hand around the platter actually makes it look as though im far more cool than i ever was

i will put up a video (as i have an older one of me doing the same "move" from 2006) compared to how im having to do it now in 2009

i can only hope that my fingers dont stop working side to side now as well as forward and backward!

sleep easy sirs!
