Tbh the Mercuries have the right idea. Take the decision away from the public, they can't be trusted.

Outstanding contribution has to go to Darren Styles.
He's done alot for hardcore, for better or worse...
'Sorry' is a terrible track, deserves nothing.
Nice to see that Lethal Theory won best label :) Maybe Riot + Kurt will get a spot on a compilation together now.

I agree with about 2 of the awards.
Some of them are mind boggling.
As for blank boxes for voting.....a very good idea.
At the very least....track of the year should be a blank box, why should SV get to pick what peoples favourite track should be chose from

because its extreamly un realistic to have an open ballot of this size. someone or a team of people more likely will have to read and count every vote, and they would all have to be trust worthy and i doubt they'd do it for free, AND thats just for one category, imagine the whole thing was open ballot? thats borderline impossable.
im fairly sure that criteria are looked at before just choosing who SV want to win. record sales, artist popularity, live reactions, history at awards and a slew of other things are probably looked at.
there are SO MANY haters out there and you are all disagreeing with the voting masses, actual proof you are wrong on this particular subject. again your opinion of a category is valid, disagreeing with a large public poll, you might as well be arguing a landslide election, something often done, yet never a decsision has been reversed...
...it is what it is people.
oh and its of my opinion that slammin vinyl shouldn't be allowd in an category. thats too suspicious for me

Somehow I doubt the those polls get many voters. For something to be the "Peoples choice" awards as you described them, the only fair system would have a neutral ajudicator and an open ballot.
The proof is in the pudding. The winner is whoever they want to win, it's run by the same people who win all of the rewards so it's pointless to even vote no matter what. The winner of "best shop" and "best event" prooves that.

when the awards first started out it was an open ballot so whey shouldn,t it be now? to be honest its the biggest load of shite ever(and only in hardcore mind you)that they give you certain names and you have to pick from them its laughable,i didn,t bother voting this year are last(i think)
but they were great when it first started proper voting,it was new and hardcore kicked ass at the time, bring back them glory days!
