NASA has reported that they have been getting e-mails, letters, and phone calls from people asking if there is going to be a cosmologicla doomsday ever since the movie previews popped up, with young teens claiming they are going to committ suicide if there is a 100% doomsday event on 12-21-12.

What's even funnier: there actually are people who believe that an old calendar can successfully predict apocalypse in the present day. With our technological advancement the Maya would treat us as total gods, but sure, give me that dusty calendar over any of our science anytime! The stupid, it burns.
I so want to go back to ???? BC, leave a fake doomsday text in enough copies and formats to make sure it's preserved, then hop back to our time and enjoy the mass suicides and terror I caused. ^^

cusak always seems to wear the same expression on his face in his movies, no matter whats going on..like he has no cheek and jaw muscles hehe (thats not a complaint, just an amusing observation)

Whats funniest is that there are people who believe we are somehow technologically advanced and know more then a glimpse about how the universe works ;)
Mayan calendar 13.0.0.0.0 = 21st dec, 2012. A new cycle in the mayan long count calendar begins then. There are some predictions that something big will happen at the next cycle.

Are you implying that we are NOT more advanced than the Maya? I've never said we know more than a glimpse or that we're objectively advanced - on the contrary, I think we're still quite pathetic. But comparatively we're miles above the Maya and I think it's extremely foolish to think that their science had more predictive power than our current science has.

The movie is going to be a complete joke, seeing as how Emmerich will have pulled all of the "science" out of his bumhole as usual. It's funny though how people think the end of a long count means ragnarok. For the Mayans it would actually be a celebration; shame they never made it this far!
Also, DONUT!!!
