What a great site! Some funny stuff on there, like:
quote: Southcott follower John Wroe, who in 1823 tried (and failed) to walk on water and underwent a public circumcision, calculated that the Millennium would begin in 1863.
Rofl, if he was publicly circumcised as a form of punishment, that takes the cake. Back on topic, I'll probably see the movie eventually, but just for entertainment. Personally I believe the world will end in about 5 bn. years :p You know, when the sun explodes and all.

Watched it friday... I didn't expect much from it, and hence I wasn't disappointed.
A 2.5 out of 5 from me.
The first real disaster scene, where they flee across the city in a Limo, was just way too much. It would have been less too much had it been a smaller car, but still over the top. Basically, 2.5 hours of the same stuff - seems everything was repeated a million times; destruction (but different places), goodbyes (but different characters), those bloody annoying "we/I made it exactly in the last second"-scenes (but different situations), etc... Especially those last second-scenes were just 20 too many.
Pretty much every joke (bar one or two) fell flat, too.
It felt like an insult to my intelligence, just an excuse to destroy cities for 2,5 hours. The characters had not much depth, the action scenes were over the top and too incredible to be believable and some of the "plot" progressions were just bland.
Good CGI, though.

Exactly everything I expected out of a movie like this.
Exactly why I didn't waste money going to see it. ;P

I didn't think the film was that bad.
Sure it had the cheese factor of any big American film and it wasn't realistic but I was expecting all that anyway. Was just a fun watch really.

A Norwegian critic called it the comedy of the year, so I would assume it's fun indeed.

well.
i just watched it...
i dont know what to say really, it wasnt as good as i thought it was, im glad they didnt BANG on about the myan crap, because thats what it is, and if they had gone on about it (as im sure they thought whilst making it) people just wouldnt buy into the movie, because of course actual scientists and archeologists have already gotten the word around well enough so that people arent being as taken in as they were - thank ****! lol
anyway - as movies go, it was great at the end, good in the middle, and pretty poor at the start.. the highlight of it was clearly the yelowstone eruption
other than that, most of the scenes are waaaay blown out of proportion and if you want to see some explosions and destruction to the point of stupidness (a word?) and exhaustion, then i would recommend this movie lol.
cant imagine what their budget was!!!!
"Moon" absolutely beats the crap out of this movie, and theres only one explosion in that haha.
go watch "moon" its friggin awsome :)

A decent well worth watching film but not as good as i thought it would be. It's the sort of film you would only want to watch once.

At first I didn't want to see the movie cause it looked terrible. I went and saw it with some of my cousins and sure enough the movie rimmed horses. Whe the car does a jump the wheels are not spinning at all. The plot is stupid as well.

Maybe he brakes the car in mid-air to prevent any possible skidding when it lands again? It seems like if you kept on the accelerator while airborne (with the engine roaring and RPMs blazing, since there's only air friction, which would also result in the wheels spinning quite rapidly), when the tires hit the ground again you would have less control and the possibility of skidding would be increased, especially if you landed at an angle.
I've probably made myself look like a dolt with this post.
Edit: I don't mean holding down on the brake the whole time either; I just mean braking enough to bring the wheels to a stop mid-air, then letting off so that you would land with a rolling start, at a speed the pavement and the tires can agree on.

BUt it doesnt make sense to why he would hold down the brakes, if you were in that situation would you break in mid-air (I know it's just a movie)? But movies are supposed to be as realistic as they can be. Anyways the movie sucked (in my opinion)
