… different music genres ?
I actually like every type of music and I enjoy playing everything, but would it be stupid to have one name if here and there I play another genre or make a track of another genre ? There are artists out there who use the same name for Hard Dance and Hardcore for example ( Steve Hill ) but there are some who also use the same name for completely different genres, like House and Drum & Bass ( Noisia ).
So what do you think ?
Or maybe have one name for Hardcore/Drum & Bass/Hard Dance and one for House/Trance/Handsup ?

I remeber a discussion about this when Bulby G (RIP :'() was changing his name. Personally i prefer just the one name, for most cases anyway, and that's what i plan on doing. The only instances i can see for using a different name is if you're doing something you don't really want to have associated with your 1st main guise. Like if you were a D&B producer and you made a gay, cheesy, Hardcore bootleg track and you didn't particularly want your main audience to know. They'll find out if they want to but it's less likely your name will be soiled. But that's my opinion i can see why others would want adifferent name for everything but it's just needless confusion imo.
Oh and Noisa do use different aliases for different genres don't they? Or is that Spor i'm thinking of?

Have a different name for each genre. People will begin to think you're just speeding up the slower release of the song so that it looks like you are not putting any thought into your music coughstylescough IF you were to make two different versions of the same song. Also, it keeps people wondering, "Who made this song!!", and if you use the same name, it would just be like, "oh you know, so & so made this track", and having 100+ songs strictly to 1 single name wears the name out quicker than having different names to go by.

Hmm okay, well I wouldn't like my Drum & Bass listeners to hear my Handsup stuff, because they probably wouldn't like it, I guess it's better to split it up in : Hardcore/DnB and House/Handsup :)
And I'll throw the name 'Revs' away!

I dunno, people do that even using different names. Squad-E/Hypasonic for one.

I would say use the same name.
It's annoying having different names, I mean the artist is still YOU and everybody knows that. If anyone was a big enough fan of your music they would know your other aliases and end up hearing your other tunes in the end anyway. Plus if you are ashamed that your d'n'b listeners might hear your hands-up music then you should just do something else, we don't need producers who are afraid to let us hear their music. That's just... stupid. Be proud of everything you make.

I agree with Trimms, really, but I do use different names, mainly for my own entertainment.
I guess some names "don't fit" for certain genres, and that's why people use multiple guises.
Also, there seems to be fashions as to what kinds of names are popular for each genres. E.g. for post-2000 uk hardcore, a lot of producers use their real first name, and a then a noun/verb/adjective as their "last name" (Darren Styles, Matt Luminate, Kevin Energy, etc), gabba producers tend to use dark/evil themed names, trance producers tend to use seemingly real first and last names, etc etc...

if you have the same name for many genres then people will always have to check
what genre your new tune is..which would probably get annoying
