I only listened to Sharkey's mix. As from next year (just 2 weeks and 2 days) All Upfront UK Hardcore tunes containing a Trancerift or bassline will be branded as 'Old Skool' and 'Dated' or 'So last decade!'

Unfortunetly,
Hardcore IS going down the drain.
Why is most of todays hardcore nothing but rubbish? There was nothing wrong with some cheese back in 2005 but in 2009, the cheese is nothing but unbearable for me. I feel the music has watered down. Look at how Nu energy and relentless started. Talk about epic freeform that was brillant. Now listen to the latest releases.
I havent heard too many good tracks this year TBH. No wonder why im looking at mixing other genre's of music and atm, thats trance :P
I loved the music back in 2005 but 2008 was the beginning of when i hated it. 2009 was far worse.
This year I have heard most tracks and I will never buy them. Of course I will buy the ones that actually do get my attention and I like. Yes, I have tried very hard to actually like the new stuff and guess what? it aint working!

Sign of the times. 2000s Hardcore is now stale. It is coming to an end. Freeform will live on but Upfront Clubland Darren Styles-core will soon be a thing of the past! Just you watch!

All ya have to do is listen to one of gammers latest mixes (on his website) or the podcast mix he did for next gen. Which is proof that hardcores continue to evolve, for the better imo.
there will always be cheesy tunes around but the cheese won't take over from large amount of quality tracks out there. anyway a little bit of cheese now and then didn't hurt anyone!
Did lethal theory winning best label not say something about what people like and want to hear more of....quality hardcore mannn! Roll on the next decade cant wait to see what's in store

You say that as if cheese meant low quality hardcore. Cheese and Quality can go hand in hand :)
